Relationships are often bumpy awkward things that can make you feel like a million bucks one day and questioning whether it will last to the next.
Here are a few questions to ask yourself if you find you're constantly thinking about the security of your relationship:
“Do I like me?”
Okay time to be super cliche but...
I'm not saying "you have to love yourself or no one else will" because I happen to think that is bullshit, but I do think you need to have a certain level of self esteem to be comfortable and confident in a relationship.
Now, even if you do like yourself, think about the person you are in the context of your relationship: Do you like yourself when you’re around him? Do you like that girl/guy? Is that person the real you?
“What do I like about him?”
Sometimes we get so caught up in the idea of a person that we forget all about the actual human being you're dating.
Sure maybe he's smart and funny, but so are thousands of other guys on earth. Find something deeper than that.
The point here is to find out if the connection you feel with this guy is something real or just something you built up in your head.
“What else makes me happy?”
When you like someone who brings fun and joy and laughter into your life, it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that they are your only source of happiness.
You have to remember that there are other things in the world that make you smile. And don’t forget about those things when you're in a relationship.
If they make you happy, let them be a part of your life. But also make a list of all of the other things in life that make you happy. And give those things just as much attention as you give them.
