Girl in the Red Coat - Schindler's List (1993)

In one of the greatest historical films of all time, Schindler's List, there is a character that has no dialogue yet plays a powerful role, known as the "girl in red" or "Red Genia." Wearing a stand-out red colored coat in a black-and-white film, she is first seen by Schindler walking through a chaotic street unharmed. Later, her red coat is seen in a pile of dead bodies, indicating that she has been killed. This prompts Schindler into saving over 1000 Jewish lives. Two interesting tidbits about the girl in the red: 1. The child actress who played Red Genia's role was Oliwia Dabrowska, aged 3 at that time. Director Spielberg told her not to watch the movie until she was 18 years old, but she couldn't help herself and watched it as an 11 year old. She was "horried" and "regretted" being in the movie at that time, but now as a college student, it is "something I could be proud of." 2. Although coincidental, the character is very similar to an actual person named Roma Ligocka, who was known for her red coat in the Krakow Ghetto. Fortunately though, Ligocka survived the holocaust unlike the girl in the movie. **I included the theme song for the movie (video 3) just because I think it is one of the greatest movie soundtracks of all time. @YinofYang thanks! yeah, it's such a sad movie - makes you think a lot, and shows the best and worst sides of men.

@minjaeturtles It certainly does. One of my fondest wishes is that we learn from our past mistakes and atrocities, though I don't know if that will come true.
