Egypt lacks a functional government as the deadlock over the position of Prime Minister continues. Reports say that interim President Mansour is leaning towards appointing Ziad Bahaa Eldin, after the ultraconservative Islamist Nour party expressed concerns about Nobel Laureate Mohamed ElBaradei. The party of deposed President Morsi refuses to acknowledge the new political order, and massive protests continue. There is still no end in sight for the conflict in Egypt as President Obama orders a review of the United States' 1.5bn dollars in annual aid. The aid is given (primarily) to the Egyptian military as a guarantor of peace between Egypt and Israel.
