Honesty pushes Atlanta Hawks into unchartered territory
It is unorthodox, no question. Hawks general manager Danny Ferry is conducting a head coach search while Larry Drew still holds the position. Drew, under contract until June 30, is interviewing for other head coaching jobs in the NBA. Not how it’s usually done. What makes the situation unique is that both sides are operating with an approach of complete honesty. Ferry informed Drew following the season that he would talk and interview other candidates for the position while determining the direction of the franchise. Drew is still being considered for the job he did in leading the Hawks to another playoff berth. Ferry certainly didn’t have to inform Drew of his plans. He could have let Drew wait until the end of June before allowing him to move on. Or he could have cut ties with Drew shortly after the season-ending loss to the Pacers. Ferry also didn’t have to allow Drew to interview for other positions since he is still under contract. When the NHL’s Thrashers were sold and moved from Atlanta to Winnipeg, Craig Ramsey was still the head coach. However, the new management let Ramsey sit and wait on his fate. When they finally granted him an interview, and subsequently made another hire, all the available head coach vacancies in the league had been filled. Ramsey eventually took an assistant coach position with the Panthers. It has been an awkward situation for Drew. He made it known that he would like to continue to coach the Hawks. He also stated that he understands that Ferry inherited him as coach and has the right to find his own person for the job. He asked for, and was granted, the ability to seek another position while the process continues. Drew will interview with the Bucks today and may soon talk to another team after each was granted permission by Ferry. Drew made his schedule known when he could have kept it under wraps. Ferry has been very tight-lipped about his search. We do know that he has talked to Stan Van Gundy, Nate McMillan, Mike Budenholzer and Ettore Messina. There are believed to be other candidates. The position may end up being filled by someone not known until it is announced. During the process both Ferry and Drew have not ruled out the possibility that after all is said and done, there is no coaching change. Ferry told the AJC last week that “Larry and I have had open communication about this approach. If Larry and I continue to work together, we ultimately will be a stronger organization because of our discussions and this thorough process.” Drew told the AJC that while he is prepared to move on the possibility remains the situation could “evolve” back to his return.
Where should Dwight Howard go?
Why Houston? Pros: Some would argue that, strictly from a basketball standpoint, the Rockets are Howard's best option. You've got in place a second star in James Harden who averages 26 points on fewer than 17 shots a game. That would leave plenty of offensive action for Howard. To that end, Harden has already proved his ability to play with not only one superstar but two. During his time in Oklahoma City, he showed he's amenable to not only being a second option but even the third. Besides Harden, under-the-radar small forward Chandler Parsons would also be a nice complement to Howard. Parsons' 38 percent shooting from 3-point range would spread the floor for Howard. And while he isn't star-caliber, you could do worse than Jeremy Lin at point guard. Insert Howard and the Rockets become instant Western Conference contenders, in my opinion. They would have a lot of the same qualities as Howard's Orlando Magic team that took outLeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers to reach the Finals in 2009. Cons: It's been widely stated that Houston will be able to offer Howard a max contract, but according to salary-cap guru Larry Coon, that is not the case. Even by releasing their seven players with non-guaranteed contracts for next season, the Rockets can't max out Howard.Harden has all the playmaking skills of Hedo Turkoglu, and Parsons can stretch the floor likeRashard Lewis. Plus, in Harden, the Rockets would have something the Magic did not: a legitimate second superstar. And with Howard, Houston would be free to trade double-double center Omer Asik, who would bring back a nice haul in a trade. Off the court, Houston not only meets the big-market specifications Howard has, but with its connection to Lin and Yao Ming, Howard's already-high popularity in China would only improve. While he will be eligible to make $20,513,178 next season, the most Houston will be able to offer him is between $16.7-18.2 million, according to Coon. When coupled with the fact that the Rockets can only offer Howard a four-year deal versus the Lakers' five-year deal, that means Howard would have to leave a significant amount of money on the table to leave L.A. for Houston. Why Atlanta? Pros: As good as things could be, basketball-wise, for Howard in Houston, they could be just as good in Atlanta. Unlike Houston and Dallas, the Hawks will be able to offer Howard a full max contract (for four years, of course; not five) While Josh Smith is ready to move on from the Hawks, with Howard in Atlanta, I'm betting Smith would change his mind. The Hawks would not be able to offer him the max, but perhaps Smith would take less to play with his childhood pal Howard. The same would have to be said of improving point guard Jeff Teague. With them, the Hawks could become the second-best team in the Eastern Conference behind Miami. Howard has always given the Heat nightmares, so perhaps the Heat would finally have a legitimate competitor in the East. With Howard, the Hawks would certainly want to find a way to keep Kyle Korver, who would be the much-needed sharpshooter an offense featuring Howard needs. In Atlanta, he would team with Al Horford to form the best center-power forward combo in the league. Horford, who has made the All-Star Game as a center, would move to his natural position of power forward and his soft touch from the perimeter would mesh nicely with Howard. Cons: Lots of players don't want to play in their hometowns, and indications are Howard feels that way about returning to Atlanta. Though his relationship with his father, Dwight Sr., is not nearly as bad as reported (the two speak regularly and are not estranged from one another), Dwight Jr. has enjoyed being outside the shadow of his parents, who live in Atlanta. To be honest, a people pleaser like Howard who finds it hard to say no to folks might run into all types of distractions in his hometown. If Chris Paul were to phone Howard and say "Let's team up in Atlanta," Howard would do it. But no matter how good the prospects in Atlanta are, it's probably a long shot that Howard goes home unless Paul is at his side. Why Dallas? Pros: Mark Cuban is a free-spending owner who will do what it takes to build a championship team. Even at 34 years old, Dirk Nowitzki is still a good scorer in the league, as evidenced by his 19 PPG average over the past two months. Put Howard in the middle in Dallas and Nowitzki would be even more dangerous. And there would be no power struggle for "top gun" status in Dallas, as Nowitzki would gladly allow Howard to shine. Rick Carlisle is one of the top coaches in the league, and with Howard manning the paint, he would probably turn the Mavericks into a top-three defense in the NBA. Cons: Even with Howard and Nowitzki, Dallas probably isn't a contender. Nowitzki will be 35 at the start of next season, and he's only got a short time left at a high level. Howard also would have to leave tons of money on the table to sign with the Mavs, who according to Coon will only be able to offer Howard between $13 and $14.5 million next season. All that being the case, there's little reason for Howard to sign with the Mavs.
'Space Jam' Is Still The Best Movie Ever.
So you've read the title of this card, and I already know what you're thinking. "Dani, does 'Inception' mean nothing to you?" or "You're trying to tell me that you think 'Space Jam' is a better movie than [Insert the title of a Quentin Tarantino movie here.]?" And I'm here to tell you - yes, you insolent fools. 'Space Jam' is the 'Citizen Kane' of our time. And here's why: First off, it stars Michael Jordan, arguably the most beloved sports celebrity of the past 30 years or so. Think about it. Tiger Woods? Scandal. Lance Armstrong? Scandal. Michael Jordan? Selling Nikes to you, your friend, your brother, and your dad easily since 1984. (That's right. 1984.) Secondly, it lets kids imagine a world where their favorite 'Looney Toons' characters live among humans. Porky Pig asking for Michael Jordan's autograph? Daffy Duck spraying his spit all over as he argues with Bill Murray? Newman from 'Seinfeld' being flattened out like Wyle E. Coyote under an Acme anvil? Priceless. So much priceless. Plus, I think every 90s kid is STILL obsessed with the movie's soundtrack. "COME ON AND SLAM AND WELCOME TO THE JAM." will always be all that needs to be said before a party starts in any given room. Plus, "I Believe I Can Fly", "Hit 'Em High", "Fly Like An Eagle", and "For You I Will" are singles that are just as great to listen to today. The roster of NBA stars that get their skills stolen by the Monstars reads like an MVP blast from the past. Patrick Ewing, Larry Bird, Charles Barkley -- These guys were the absolute kings of basketball in the 90s, and seeing them all act in this movie is SUPER amusing, but also makes you feel kind of old now. (I mean, Muggsy Bogues is 50 today, you guys.) 'Space Jam' inspired a whole generation of kid athletes and non-athletes - including NBA power forward Blake Griffin. I mean, I'm not saying that Little Kid Blake Griffin was watching 'Space Jam' in the movie theater, thinking something like "Hey, maybe if I get 'NBA Rookie Of The Year', it'll up my odds of meeting Bugs Bunny'." But I'm also not NOT saying that. And so, my fellow Vinglers, I hope that I have made you reconsider where your previous loyalties laid and will join me in the 'Space Jam Is The Coolest' Vingle Fan Club - where the current members are Me, Me, Me, and @christianmordi over in the Sports Community. What was YOUR favorite part about 'Space Jam'?

The 5 Strangest Superstition in Sports!
Hello sports fans! It's Friday the 13th! Here are some of the strangest superstitions in sports! Michael Jordan Michael always wore his UNC shorts under his NBA shorts. Thus, he wore longer shorts than his fellow players at that time. In the end however, his fellow players followed suit after the legend. Serena Williams Serena Williams is known for not changing socks once during a tournament. It sucks to wear a pair of socks for more than a day...imagine how it would feel to wear the same socks for an entire tournament! I guess Serena doesn't mind it considering the number of tournaments she has won. Brian Ulracher Brian Ulracher ate two chocolate chip cookies before every game. Maybe that was the secret to his muscular body. I think it'd be fair to call him the "Cookie Monster". Caron Butler Caron Butler was known to be an avid fan of Mountain Dew. He loved the drink so much that he drank before and during every game. During his UNC days, he asked his wife to pick him a 2-L bottle of the green stuff, and drank half of it before the game, and the rest during half-time. In 2007, the Wizards and NBA banned him from drinking it during games so he eventually quit the whole thing in 2009. Moises Alou This one has to be the most f*cked up one out of all of them. Moises Alou used to pee on his own hands to harden them! Should we see that as commitment to the game of baseball or just some pretty weird ass shit? Oh and by the way, don't try to harden your hands by peeing on them ladies and gentlemen, because doctors have confirmed that peeing on your hand doesn't harden them. It actually softens them. @jeff4122 @ButterflyBlu @superiorsl @Starbell808 @DonnaMelton @InPlainSight @jokes @BEAUTYgirlARIEL @David19Flo23 @karencorchado @salahabdalla @Moose892 @BrookieyElba @SamuelRodriguez @ValerieAlissaPa @xitlalicordova1 @AndrewMaldonado @Jovi @Shippudenguy21 @AbdulrahmanSaad @trinityarcangel @thefeels @Link4TW @ChriSingularis @sanazsanaz @WilliamBrown @DannyMoses @ClaySharko @Ravenwing92 @FromBlue2U @TravisBeck @LemissaNicole @BossDominata @gatorchick96 @MatthewBoughton @MarcusJiles @BrandonMcNeil @MalikLawary @KyleBerke @manbungo2000 @DerekGumtow @havic @Straightshooter @PhilAnthony @Kirooken @yaakattackk @RodneyYoung @DreJones @JonathanKerns @bnzattoni @TravisManning @GalacticChakra @smothgreen @afxs @johnnolastname @ChristopherKenn @ChasePage @coreywriley91@MikeWolf @MrTenThirty @JasonNilsson @BrunoDutch @SherzTYC @krishntejanand @addri @ChrisStephens What was your favorite one from the list?
További jó hír, hogy a külföldi online játékterek kaszinóoldalainak a különféle bónuszait magyar játékosok is igénybe vehetik, általában ugyanazokkal a megjátszási feltételekkel.
