This one's pretty easy, since I haven't seen much mech anime, so Gurren Lagann wins by default. I try not to be prejudiced, but the mech genre in general just isn't all that appealing to me. I'm not against it or anything; they just never jump to the top of my list when it comes time to pick something new to watch (I actually don't think my list contains many in the first place...). If you have any suggestions, I'd be thrilled to check them out!
As for Gurren Lagann, it didn't make my favorites, but I loved it! It was different from most other anime I've seen. I love the Trigger animation style, and of course it hits that emotional element! When Kamina died, at first I was deep in denial. As you may or may not know about me, SuperWhoLock is among the most prominent of my many fandoms, and if you know anything about Supernatural, Doctor Who, and Sherlock, you know that dead characters don't tend to stay dead. When Kamina sacrificed himself, I thought he would pull through somehow, that he would be fine. I actually had to take a little break before continuing on. And then at the end with Nia, I mean, poor Simon can't catch a break! The time skip was a little weird for me at first, but I really appreciated and enjoyed seeing how everything and everyone had changed, especially Simon! This is definitely one to rewatch!
As always, hope you enjoyed! If you wanna learn more about me/ be my friend/ be tagged in these, please don't hesitate to ask! I'm nice, I swear (mostly ;p)! Or I guess you can follow my 100 Days of Anime collection, or both if you feel so inclined! Until next time!
