Learning Directions in Korean!

Here's a pretty easy way to learn North, South, East and West!

강남 - Gangnam

Literally "River south."

강 - River
(gang)
남 - South
(nam)

북한 - North Korea (boo-k han)

Literally - North Korea

북 - North
(boo-k)
한 - Korea (like Han-guk)
(han)

서대문 - Seodaemun

Literally "West Big Gate."

서 - West
(seo)
대 - Big
(dae)
문 - Gate/Door
(moon)

동대문 - Dongdaemun

Literally "East Big Gate."

동 - East
(dong)
대 - Big
(dae)
문 - Gate/Door
(moon)

So...knowing what you just learned...

what does 남대문 (nam-dae-mun) mean?!
