What A Coke Does To Your Body In 1 Hour
I'll be the first to admit that I love Coca Cola. But it's absolutely horrible for us. A very detailed infographic supplied by TheRenegadePharmacist.com has officially proven again how bad Coke is for your body (WE KNOW). The American CDC has said that 25% of Americans drink soda on a regular basis which is a hefty reason why obesity has run rampant. Sugar is the main culprit since an average can of soda can contain 3 tablespoons of sugar and 4 tablespoons if in a 12-ounce-bottle. Coke is one of the most popular soft drinks in the United States with a massive marketing empire so there will never be a day where we won't see it somewhere. But there comes a time where you need to take a moment and see what you're putting into your body. Let's take a look : All it takes is ONE Coke : First 10 Minutes : 10 teaspoon of sugar hit your system. (100% of your recommended daily intake.) You don't immediately vomit from the overwhelming sweetness because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor allowing you to keep it down. In 20 Minutes : Your blood sugar spikes, causing an insulin burst. Your live responds to this by turning any sugar it can get its hands on into fat. (There's plenty of that at this particular moment.) In 40 Minutes : Caffeine absorption is complete. Your pupils dilate, your blood pressure rises, as a response your liver dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. The adenosine receptors in your brain are now blocked preventing drowsiness. In 45 Minutes : Your body ups your dopamine production stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain. This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way. In 60 Minutes : The phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium, and zinc in your lower intestine providing a further boost in metabolism. This is a compounded by high doses of sugar and artificial sweeteners also increasing the urinary excretion of calcium. After 60 Minutes : The caffeine's diuretic properties come into play. (It makes you have to pee.) It is now assured that you'll evacuate the bonded calcium, magnesium, and zinc that was headed to your bones as well as sodium, electrolyte and water. As the rave inside of you died down you'll start to have a sugar crash. You may become irritable and/or sluggish. You've also now, literally, pissed away all the water that was in theCoke. But not before infusing it with valuable nutrients your body could have used for things like having the ability to hydrate your system of build strong bones and teeth. Why you should care? - Coke weakens bones and teeth. - Increases your chance for getting diabetes. - It slows your metabolism, especially long term. - Aspartame in the soda leads to disease and organ irritation. - Coke has negative affects on fertility. - It leads to weight gain. - Can worsen asthma or increase risk for heart disease. - Cancer, Osteoporosis, and Kidney issues are common in people who drink soda. - It's expensive to continually buy it. - Diet sodas are a scam and false advertising. All soda is bad for you. - No nutritional value. - Raised cholesterol and specifically increased belly fat. Do I need to say more? Coke or soda for that matter is never a good idea. (But don't worry, I still love it.)
Green Tea Smoothies – Delicious, Healthy, and Help You Lose Weight
Celebrate summer with these yummy green tea smoothies! They're packed with seasonal fruit and all the nutrients your body needs, helping you eat smart and achieve your health goals. Researchers at Purdue University found that you stay fuller longer when you drink thick beverages like smoothies; replacing meals with smoothies ups your chance of losing weight and keeping it off for more than a year. Even if weight loss isn't one of your goals, drinking smoothies can help you sneak in more raw fruits and veggies into your diet. My dad, who's a total health nut, will throw everything from kale to tomatoes to raw beets into his VitaMix – but shockingly, you'd never know it! Using a little peanut butter, cinnamon, sweetened yogurt, or ripe strawberries can really mask the taste of less traditional ingredients. Why Green Tea? Green tea contains catechin polyphenols, which Swiss researchers have found significantly increase your body's metabolism of fat – meaning you burn more, faster. In addition, green tea contains less caffeine than coffee, which, coupled with the nutrients provided by other ingredients, will give you long lasting, non-jittery energy, unlike the buzz-crash-repeat vicious cycle of coffee. Give one (or all!) of these green tea smoothies a try – you won't be disappointed! Green Tea Goddess Smoothie 3 cups frozen green grapes 2 cups baby spinach, packed 1 1/2 cups strong brewed green tea, cooled 1 medium ripe avocado 2 teaspoons honey (or agave syrup) Avocados are packed with oleic acid, a healthy fat that's great for your heart. Plus, they've got more potassium than bananas, making them excellent supporters of healthy blood pressure levels. Source: Food Antioxidant-Rich Berry Matcha Smoothie 1/4 cup frozen blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries (or a mix of all three!) 1/2 cup yogurt 1/2 cup ice 1 tsp. matcha powder Add some mango, kiwi, ginger, or a few fresh mint leaves to make this even yummier! Source: MatchaSource Mango Green Tea Smoothie 1/2 cup green tea 1/2 cup fat-free Greek yogurt 1 cup mango chunks, fresh or frozen 3-5 ice cubes Mango is one of my favorite fruits, and protein-packed Greek yogurt will keep you full and focused for hours! Source: Joy Bauer Cinnamon Honey Green Tea Smoothie 1/2 cup green tea, chilled 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tbsp. honey 1/2 banana Like green tea, cinnamon has great metabolism-boosting properties. At only 139 calories, this low-cal concoction is better as a snack than a meal replacement. Source: Popsugar A Few Tips: Use frozen fruit. It's cheaper, easier to store, won't go bad, AND might even have more antioxidants than the fresh fruit you find in the supermarket, since it's picked and frozen at peak ripeness. To brew strong green tea, use two tea bags – but don't oversteep. Oversteeping can give your tea a bitter flavor that other ingredients might not succeed in masking.

Are Any of You Gluten-Free (Can You Eat in Korea?)
A lot of people message me on YouTube and Tumblr asking about dietary restrictions in Korea and to be quite honest, it can be tough. Not many people in Korea have food allergies like I am used to in the US (peanut allergies, being lactose intolerant, etc) So when non-Koreans come to Korea and start to ask for certain foods to be changed (like, please don't add carrots) because of an allergy, its uncommon so restaurants often aren't sure what to do. Recently though, there has been a movement to make vegetarianism and veganism more accepted in Korea, a country famous for its meat dishes, and as a result people are learning more about food and different diets! My friend Sunny is Korean and in her late teens she developed allergies to a ton of different things, including gluten. Because her diet because so restricted, she started cooking for herself. She then discovered a small but hungry group of gluten-free people in Korea who wanted some of the desserts she had been baking for herself. After gaining more and more popularity, she opened Sunny Bread and now serves everything from cheesecake to tiramisu to pumpkin pie, all vegan and gluten free! She also knows how hard it is to have an allergy, plus she speaks English really well, so if you go in nand talk to her about what you can and can't eat, I'm sure she'll have suggestions for where to eat in Seoul :) Here's a look at her bakery~ Do any of you have food allergies? What can't you eat?
