Greetings, fellow Vinglers! This challenge was posed to our lovely community, and it occurred to me that I've been here almost a year and haven't formally introduced myself!
So, you wanna know the meaning behind my username, eh? I came up with it on the fly when I needed a gamer tag for an XBox account, and it just kinda stuck with me. It represents 3 of my top fandoms: +Otaku - self explanatory; y'all know how I love anime; why else would I be here!? Though I prefer to use this term in the more general fangirl obsession sense +Demon - Supernatural, and my general secretly dark nature +10 - Doctor Who; David Tennant is my favorite incarnation!
Top 3 Anime Genres
I'll be honest, I haven't been super into anime that long. I remember watching Pokémon and Sailor Moon and stuff as a kid on Toonami, bank in the olden days when Toonami was a thing for more than a few hours after midnight once a week, and I always liked anime, but it was one of those things that I always wanted to get to but didn't, for some reason, so I haven't seen a massive amount, yet. I don't think about or target genres when I watch anime, but I guys these are probably my top 3:
I watch anime to escape to a world of wonder! These are always super fun! Fairy Tail is one of my favorites and is a prime example of this category
This genre tends to kind of transform our world into one of fantasy, in a way, because the stories usually take place in our world or a worlds like ours, but with a cool twist. I'm different with anime than with other media, but I don't like my fiction to be too realistic. Some of my favorite examples are Assassination Classroom and One Punch Man.
I like it when I can get into a character's head, the more twisted, the better! I don't think I've actually seen any anime in this genre, but a lot of my favorite characters, particularly villains, are kind of adjacent. Some examples I have are Psycho-Pass and Death Note.
Anime I Think EVERYONE Should Watch: Noragami
I don't know what I expected when I plucked this out of Netflix on a whim (sadly, I think they took it off), but it was not what I got! It quickly jumped into my top 3 (which I guess isn't necessarily saying much, considering my list is only a little only 30 series, 60 if we're being generous)! General Synopsis Noragami is about an struggling Shinto god with big dreams to have his own shrine and be worshipped by millions, a stray god, if you will (title drop). He's super quirky, but also has a dark past. His path crosses with Hiyori, a Junior High girl who pushes him out off the path of an incoming bus, and their fates intertwine. Not the best summary, but I suck at those, and I didn't want to give anything away! I think it's got a little something for everyone, action, humor, drama, even a little bit of romance! I love the character development, the animation, the lore (which is actually pretty accurate to actual Shinto beliefs, and I think that cultural enrichment is super cool), everything about this anime! So now I'm supposed to tag 3 friends, so I guess I'll go with @SAMURXAI @UzumakiJess @SimplyAwkward
