Who is HIGHLIGHT???
Hey guys. So for a while now there has been talk about Highlight debuting. Most people have no idea who highlight is, how many members are in the group, their ages, what they look like etc. One things for certain............people have been passing on Legendary rookie group..........so you gotta wonder. How good is this group? What do they sound like? Do I know them?..................Well maybe.................possibly...............................ummmmmmmm YES! Do these five guys look familiar? Do you guys remember the band formerly known as Beast/B2St??? http://youtu.be/ZAzWT8mRoR0 http://youtu.be/8JQJ83aFNo8 http://youtu.be/9JWkOTkhpf4 https://youtu.be/PrKvv4o0Ofs ......oh yeah but there was like another right? A sixth member..............Yes there was. Jang Hyunseung. Also apart of the duo Troublemaker. -------------------------- QUICK RUN THROUGH Sadly that sixth member of Beast departed and the explanation we got was differences in music ideas or so. Shortly after this the contracts for all six Beast members and Cube expired. This gave way to other possibilities and the remaining members decided to leave Cube and start their own label. (Around Us) Jang Hyunseung decided to stay and do another contract with Cube. Now that the five had left there was still an issue with the Beast name. Cube had the rights to that name for more years meaning the boys could not promote under that name since they had left Cube. After intense thinking and talking back and forth with Cube the boys decided to give up on the Beast name for the moment and promote under a new name........dundundunduuuuun HIGHLIGHT was born. This name is a song title from the past album. Alrighty now to introduce you to each member of HIGHLIGHT. DO YOU KNOW THEM? Well here are the links for the cards that lead to each member. Remembering Michael Jackson, six years on from his passing
On June 25, 2009, the world was rocked with news that Michael Jackson had passed. Today, six years later, is as good a day as any to remember the man and his legacy. There's no doubt that his memory will be forever tainted with accusations of child abuse. And I can definitely appreciate that it's important to be informed about that kind of thing, which is, obviously, completely and totally intolerable. But today, let's remember Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, for the good that he did. And of those, there are plenty. He was doing it from age nine While these reports became much more well-known following his death, it's still not universally known that Michael Jackson was tormented by his parents from a very young age during his upbringing in Gary, Indiana. His parents beat him with belts and insulted his appearance. In spite of all this, though, Michael joined the Jackson Five at age 9 and led the vocals for "I Want You Back" when he was just eleven. His stage presence in the above video is...ridiculous, frankly. It's a perfect video, and it's the perfect song. There is no song that brings with it the same guarantee -- guarantee -- that I will be up and dancing like "I Want You Back" does. He recorded the best selling album of all time - by a long shot Conservative estimates claim that "Thriller" earned $51 million in sales, while the most ambitious estimates list the number at $65 million. The next best selling album of all time, Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon" comes in at $45 million. It's important to watch the full, 13-minute original music video for "Thriller" every once in a while, just to remind yourself what this man was capable of. His smile as he happily eats popcorn in the movie theater around the 3:50 mark is one of my favorite parts... what a creep. In an entertaining way, I think. Michael played an integral role in breaking the musical 'color barrier' Before his songs became too enormously popular to ignore, MTV was filled with white musicians. The station was extremely hesitant to include videos and performances of African American musicians, and there isn't really anyone who doubts that the company was brutally racist in the early '80s. But Michael Jackson went a long way to change that. "Billie Jean" was the first song by an African American artist to receive heavy airtime on MTV, and it paved the way for the future popularity of artists like Prince and Donna Summer to begin to populate the channel. Let's not forget about the music... Yes, Michael was the perfect performer. Yes, he was a champion of race relations in the music industry (which many see as ironic, given his appearance toward the end of his life). But Michael Jackson became as huge as he did for one key, irrefutable reason: his music was amazing. Above are some of my favorites. "Rock With You" is always on top of my list. It's everything right about the 1980s, late disco, popular R&B and Michael Jackson himself. "Man in the Mirror" may not be my favorite Michael Jackson song, but it's influence is undeniable. Personal issues aside, Michael Jackson was a man who cared about the world and its overall well-being. "Man in the Mirror" displays this. "We Are the World," which was written Jackson and Lionel Ritchie is one of the most touching musical performances ever created, in my opinion. It has all the great sounds of the 1980s and will forever serve as an anthem for love, peace and togetherness. "Wanna Be Starting Something" is another of those perfect pop hits. It's the first song from "Thriller" and sets the tone for the album and, in some ways, Michael's larger body of work. I know that there are those who cannot forgive Michael Jackson for his alleged crimes (while he was never convicted, legitimate suspicions remain). People have reservations because of the way he looked in his later years. It's not my place to tell you that you're wrong. But what also cannot be denied is that the more you know about his childhood and the emotional and physical abuse he was exposed to as a young child, the easier it is to explain things like his appearance. Some things - like the criminal allegations - can not be excused. No amount of abuse a child experiences will ever legitimize further subjugation of abuse, and that goes without exception. But his physical appearance and confidence were undoubtedly compromised by his parents. It's important to be informed. The reality remains: Michael Jackson was the greatest musician the world has ever seen, hands down. No one understood the intricacies of pop music like Michael Jackson did, and it's difficult to imagine any other musician captivating an audience as wide as Michael Jackson managed. His music and his dancing (the man invented the robot and the moonwalk...), his production, his costumes, his influence - it's all completely unmeasurable. I can be in any kind of mood, and putting Michael Jackson will put a smile on my face immediately. So for that, he will be forever remembered in a positive light in my eyes. Rest easy, Michael. You will never die.
A product guide to fluorescence and Photoluminescence
Above Photo: Glow Paint Industries 250ml UV Neon Face and Body Paints. Black lights emit UV Ultraviolet light that cannot be seen by humans The fluorescent paint absorbs the ultraviolet light and then re-emits the visible wavelengths that we see as fluorescence. It works in the way of one colour in one colour out. Fluorescent Paints are fluro โ€“ Neon coloured in normal day light conditions but when exposed to a black light in dark or semi lit conditions will illuminate (Fluoresce). As you can see the glow in the dark Christmas tree was a great success. Common Questions Q) Should Fluorescent Paints be used outdoors? A) Fluorescent Paints will work fine outside but over a number of years the paint will fade in colour. Fluorescent Paints are best used indoors. Q) Is there a black, Gold, Silver or Gray Fluorescent paint? A)No all these colours do not have fluorescent properties. Q) Are black lights dangerous? A) Most black lights that are available for sale in Australia are safe to use. UV Blacklights with dangerous wavelengths are not normally available for sale to the general public. Q) What type of Black Light do I need for a Fluro Party? A) To light a large area we recommend getting a 400W UV Black Light cannon. You can get these UV black lights from your local dโ€™j supplies shop. Most dโ€™j shops rent and sell their range of black lights. Types of Black Lights Black Light LED panels these black lights also work well and are suitable for both home fluro parties and professional use, but give inferior performance. UV Black Light Tubes are good if you are trying to light an area where there are only normal white light fluorescent lighting. You can get these from electrical wholesalers. Black Light bulbs are a good, cheap and cost effective method of buying UV black lights. We recommend buying energy efficient globes rather that the old style globes. The old style globes donโ€™t work as well as the new energy efficient globes. You can get these from your local hardware store. You will need to check your light fittings before buying black light bulbs to check if you have bayonet or screw in fittings. The type of UV Black light you buy will determine how well the paints work under UV Black light. Above Photo: Pro black lights for large events. Above Photo: 12 Volt DC UV Black Light Is Glow in the dark the same as fluorescence? No they are not the same at all. Glow in the dark pigments in the paints absorbs light from artificial light or natural light sources and then when placed in the dark the pigments in the paint discharge and light up and Glow. There is no scientific research or evidence to prove that Glow pigments are safe to use on skin or in face and body paint. A new emerging trend is to use glow in the dark Face and Body Paints. After many years in selling glow in the dark powders and paints we know that this type of Glow paint is inferior compared to UV reactive paints. This is why 1) Glow in the dark Face and Body Paints need very dark conditions to see the glow effect. 2) This make their use dangerous. 3) They are expensive 4) They have limited colours 5) To have a good glow effect these paints need large glow powder particle sizes. This makes them look like sandpaper. Other useful information about Fluorescence in general Is there Organic Fluorescent things in nature? Yes some flowers have UV Properties which helps bees and other small insects find flowers. Fluorescent rocks and minerals Some rocks and minerals will fluoresce when near a black light. Do animals see Fluorescence? Yes they sure do. Some animals that can see in UV, are some species of Parrots (Some Male parrots have UV markings to attract mates). Some fish can see in UV, This has lead to some fishing lure manufactures to make Neon lures that are more attractive to fish. Budgies under UV Black light. BTS Fire and WTF Is Tropical House?
Alright y'all, we're going to talk about a topic that affects each and every one of us: TROPICAL HOUSE. It's a subgenre of house music that is influenced by instruments such as steel drums usually used in Jamaican, Cuban, etc music. It's been getting more and more popularity these days but I was still surprised to hear it in at BTS song! It is most noticeable in Rap Mon's part at 2:15. That awesome sound in the back? That's classic Tropical House music! Here are some more examples if you dig that sound: Jeremih - Don't Tell 'Em Thanks to @Lizzeh for reminding me about this awesome example!!!! Justin Bieber - Sorry & What Do You Mean Beibs made his comeback completely backed by this music. It sounds fresh, fun, and you CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO IT. Kygo - Stay Often referenced as the king of the rebirth of TropHouse, Kygo is your go-to DJ if you want nothing but Tropical House in your ears. Skrillex and Diplo - Where Are รœ Now This was the song that really brought the sound to mainstream recently. Those "dolphin sounds" or however you choose to describe it...yup, TropHouse. Fifth Harmony - Worth It & Work It's leaking into the girl group pop scene too with Fifth Harmony using an almost 8-bit take on Trop-Pop. Still groovy. Jamie XX - Loud Places And then we have Jamie XX that combines his smooth sleepy sounds from the XX with the catchy pop of Tropical House. Needless to say, it was love at first listen. Even though it has existed for a long time (and the influences that inspired existed looooooooooong before) I'm glad to hear more of it now in mainstream music! Enjoy!
Why Are These Kids At A Rave?
The 1990s were a simpler time - at least in the realm of kid birthday parties. You went out for laser tag or group-watched a movie. You had slumber parties or rented the 'party room' at your local roller rink. However, sometime between then and now, Skrillex happened - which brings us to the latest trend in children's birthday parties - KIDDIE RAVES. Introducing CirKiz - it's like that neon EDM-packed post-apocalypse you used to go to in college. But with safer goodie bags. You got your wildin' out, glowstick-wielding white bros. Guy with a cool haircut working the 1's and 2's. The person who's been going hard on fruit punch all night. And the one in the corner, currently regretting the fruit punch. CirKiz was created by some NYC-based, EDM-loving parents - Jesse Sprague and Jenny Song - who wanted to create a special place "where families can listen and dance to DJs, see live performances, and experience a nightclub environment in a safe, controlled daytime setting." Available in both New York and London, parents can choose one of several popular warehouse venues and trendy nightclubs for their CirKiz-sponsored event. One such venue, I was surprised to learn, is Cielo, a New York spot known for hosting some pretty 'high-brow' house and trance DJs. In fact, that's exactly where Jesse and Jenny first came up with their Cirkiz idea: "We had [our son's] 1st birthday party at Cielo. We invited friends with kids and friends without. It was so much fun for everyone we decided to make it an annual event but in different clubs. The message we got from all our friends was clear and consistent: 'You should do this professionally and turn it into a business... I'd pay to go.' So after years of just doing it for fun, we finally got our act together and did exactly that." Currently, CirKiz is hosting a 'winter series' of raves at NYC's Space Ibiza on Sundays, where ticket prices range from $15 - 20 per person. You can check out more details at their official website or you can be like me and just stare at these pictures, feeling equal parts confused and disturbed. With that being said: What do you guys think? Is combining kids and rave culture a good idea or bad idea? Let me know in the comments below. (Also shout-out to the LED robot in this picture up here. For a part-time job, that's - admittedly - rad as hell.)
