Feel free to ask me questions about anything but my answers will mostly be experience/opinion based, I AM NOT A DERMATOLOGIST :P My μ–Έλ‹ˆ @MichalJamerson will also make comments and she is also a great resource :) Also just an FYI, my skin type is very very sensitive that leans more toward the dry side. Now let's get started!
The third step in my face cleansing routine is a facial cleanser (face wash). This step is the most important in my opinion, because how can you wash your face well if you don't us an an actual facial cleanser... When i started looking to a Korean facial cleansing routine I did a lot of research on which cleansers would be good for my skin type. Since I started this journey 6 months ago I have used a few different types and had different results with each one. I've also tried tools to help with my facial cleansing and I will also talk about those in this card. Here are the steps I take when using my cleanser: 1. Make sure skin has plenty of water on it 2. Get about a nickle size amount of cleanser on fingers 3. Massage onto face in counter-clockwise circles, making sure to get my face fully covered 4. Rinse hands and use face cleansing tool 5. Rinse face by splashing water on face, use a wash close to help get under the chin and around the hair line.
The Face Shop's Rice Water Bright cleansing foam was the first cleanser I used and I fell in love with it instantly. I still use this cleanser today. This cleanser has become my go to for a number of reasons: 1. It's affordable 2. It's incredibly gentle on my skin making it easy to use since I have such crazy sensitive skin. 3. It has skin brightening qualities. 4. My skin doesn't feel dry after using it, but you still need a moisturizer when using this cleanser Since this was the first cleanser I started using that was an actual Korean product I was really nervous. Every other kind of cleanser I have used in the past only made my face worse than before. This cleanser, however, I noticed a difference instantly. I've actually used this product in front of my family and they were shocked at the difference from before washed face to after washed face. Though if you suffer from acne this cleanser won't do much for that. It's great about evening out discoloration, dark circles, and overall brightness of your skin. I've never really had terrible acne until about a year go my skin decided it was 15 again and well yeah. Needless to say, I was getting really frustrated when I wasn't seeing a difference in my acne when using this product. There were other very noticable differences but not with my acne. Because I was struggling with my acne I decided to give Laneige's Multi Cleanser a shot. I had already been using a few different Laneige products by this point and liked the results from them, so why not try a cleanser. This cleanser did help reduce my acne but while doing so it also dried out my skin really badly and left small red spots. It is a very strong cleanser. The cleanser does have little beads in it to use as an exfoliator that just felt as if it was scratching my skin rather than exfoliating. It wasn't as bad as many other cleansers I have used in the past so I still use it from time to time when my acne starts to act up. However, it's rare if I need to use it anymore. Now I haven't gotten to try this product yet but I have it on order. It should be here in a couple of days. So after I test it out for a bit I'll give you guys a review of it. :) I'm pretty excited because it's supposed to help control acne but also be super gentle. We will see!! Though if you want to go ahead and test it out for yourself too you can click here
Let's go ahead and move onto the types of tools I have tried using :)
This is one of the tools I"m currently using when I wash my face. I apply the cleanser on with my fingers and massage my face a bit before using this just because I feel like it cleans better. I primarily use the sponge and the brush attachments. The roller ball one is nice for massaging but if you massage your face incorrectly you can cause more damage than good. I wouldn't say you necessarily need a tool in order to wash your face but I do use it on those day when I feel like I need a "deep" clean. If you are interested in purchasing one similar to this you can click here I've also used a number of other tools which can be purchased from your pharmacy or other beauty stores. Examples would be exfoliating sponges, different brissle brushes, and charcoal sponges. These worked just fine, but personally, I use either my handy tool pictured above or my hands. The other tools seemed to hurt my skin a little more than I wanted.
Hopefully this helps you guys! I know that just by adding this step into my daily/nightly routine has made a major difference in my skin, nearly to the point of not being recognized. I highly suggest you take the jump and dive right into Korean facial cleansers! Of course, these are my own opinions/experiences with these two different products. Feel free to ask questions, but remember I'm not an expert :) Next time: Exfoliators and Sugar Scrubs!
Ahhh! I love these! I've used the rice water cleansing foam under recommendation from @BrennaTran and I love it! I've been lucky and have never had issues with acne but I can say that the rice water cleansing foam works really well for small break outs.
These cards are super helpful can you tag me in your future ones? πŸ˜ŠπŸ™πŸ»
