Trinidad Moruga Scorpion (according to the media) peppers have avarege Scoville Heat Unit (SHU, which is a measurement for spiciness created by capsaicin in peppers) of over 1.2 million, with some Trinidad Moruga Scorpion scoring over 2 million SHU. To put those numbers in perspective, Jalapeno peppers have SHUs of 2,500-10,000, and Thai green chili has SHUs of 50,000-100,000. So these Scorpions are more than 200 times hotter than your average jalapeno on average! Chefs apparently have to wear gas masks and protective gear to handle this pepper. I believe it, because I had tingling, burning sensations when I touched a Habanero pepper when I visited Mexico, and Habaneros are only 100,000-350,000 SHUs. Eating one of these peppers would literally be like eating pepper spray :@ http://www.ibtimes.com/trinidad-moruga-scorpion-worlds-hottest-pepper-tops-2m-scoville-heat-units-411812 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trinidad_Moruga_Scorpion
