Anime: Your Lie In April (Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso)
Piano prodigy Kōsei Arima dominated the competition and has become famous among child musicians. After his mother, who was also his instructor, died, he had a mental breakdown while performing at a piano recital at the age of twelve. As a result, he is no longer able to hear the sound of his piano even though his hearing is perfectly fine. Two years later, Kōsei hasn't touched the piano and views the world in monochrome, without any flair or color. He has resigned himself to living out his life with his good friends, Tsubaki and Watari, until, one day, a girl changes everything. Kaori Miyazono, a fourteen-year old audacious, free-spirited violinist whose playing style reflects her manic personality, helps Kōsei return to the music world and shows that it should be free and mold breaking unlike the structured and rigid style Kōsei was used to. EPISODES: 22 GENRE: DRAMA/ ROMANCE/ MUSIC
Kaori Miyazono is a free spirited girl who plays the violin and befriends Kosei. Her wish is for him to play the piano again. She is kind, bright and colorful. Kaori illuminates everyone's lives around her. Her only wish is to play a duet with Kosei and she does. Kaori is so cheerful and lively, she brings joy to others lives. I loved how caring and bright of a person she is.
Kosei loved playing the piano when he was younger but when his mother started to fall ill, she would abuse him if he messed up while playing. She wanted him to be the best pianist but he was only a young child and then she dies on the same day of his recital. Thus she haunts him while he plays and he can't hear the sound of him playing the piano ever again. It's as if he is underwater and can't hear anything. But one day he sees Kaori in a playground playing an instrument and then watches her at a recital. She convinces him to play the piano again and even falls for her. He still can't hear the music but plays a duet with Kaori and he falls in love with the piano again. I feel bad for Kosei because he is tormented by his mother, but he just wants to make her happy and play his best. Later he gets his happiness and plays the piano again for the people he loves.
Who else loved this DUO?!
I sure did!
Beautiful Art! The #1 thing I absolutely adored from this anime was the art style. It was so gorgeous and I couldn't keep my eyes off of it all. The way their eyes sparkle to the stunning backgrounds. It's a captivating and breathtaking. It has a light and bubbly atmosphere. I love it all!
It has a bright, upbeat soundtrack and some are really sorrowful and make you want to tear. The openings are more cheerful and enjoy the 1st op more than the 2nd because of the beautiful animation and the song is more upbeat and fun! The ending songs sound more sad and there slower which makes sense for an ending song. The voices for both are really soulful too. I enjoy the 2nd Ending so much more than the 1st. The 2nd ending was the only video I couldn't find with sound, so I put the music video from the singer on there instead. It's called Orange by 7!! and it's my favorite song from the entire soundtrack, it's so beautiful and makes me want to cry every time I watched it at the end of each episode. All of the music from this anime is beautiful and well done!
I absolutely loved this anime and I'm glad I came back to finish it because it was amazing. I love the storyline, and the character development from Kosei is great thanks to Kaori. It had some humor thrown in there and romance but very little. That little bit of romance was sweet though, it was pure and hard to find. The main characters were so bright and lively. The beautiful animation can bring me to tears and make me smile at the same time. I loved the music and when they would play in competitions the characters would go hard core and break into a sweat within seconds. This anime was overall amazing and inspiring. It's beautiful in every way. It's all about a girl and boy who have dreams. It has an okay ending, it did make me smile in the end. And you do find out in the very last episode what the "lie" is from the title "Your LIE In April" which made me giggle and tear up.
9/10 - I definitely recommend this one if your into music and romance. It's a beautiful story and it is inspiring to watch the passion in their eyes.
Have you watched "Your Lie In April", and did you like it?
