Sometimes, when I was in middle school, I would think about the fact that kids all over the nation had to stand up and say the same allegiance chant by rote was one of the creepiest things ever. I'm all for patriotism, but that minute or two where we're all expressionless and just 'saying the words' is sort of... well, our patriotism could be expressed in much more colorful and exciting ways.

What do you think kids should do every morning INSTEAD of the pledge to show their nationalism?

How about a good old-fashioned, All-American food fight?
I think the reason why it sounds so expressionless, is because it just becomes words to us. We forget to think of what we are saying, and what those words mean. I think it's important for people to not only know it, but also know what each phrase means. Or at least their original intent. The government is very messed up these days.
I feel we should do a civil war reenactment lol
At some point in elementary school I refused to say it but so I wouldn't get in trouble I stood with everyone with my hand over my heart and just moved my lips the teacher never noticed
just the pledge.
lmao. no. just say the words. amd get it over with. although they could do away with the moment of silent, thats the only thing that bother me. just sitting there waiting for every one else to finally open their eyes.
