Please Properly Source & Credit Artists
You may not agree or like this post. If so, ignore it and move on. I've been seeing a lot of artwork and photography without credits or links directly back to the artist. If you don't know or can't find it, use reverse image searches like Google Image Search or TinEye. Why should you source? "It doesn’t support the artist. In fact, the effect for the artist out of unsourced reposts of their art is mostly negative. Not only it is already a bit rude to repost someone’s art, particularly nowadays when so many artists are specifically asking for that not to be done, but it takes away a lot of the praise and recognition a lot of artists deserve. Let’s take tumblr as an example: one of the biggest ways for an artist to be praised and recognized for their work is getting a lot of notes. Reposting their art and getting the notes that should be theirs for yourself without sourcing back to the artist not only technically “steals" notes from them, but also lowers tremendously the chance that they will get new fans, because we are all lazy assholes and there are very few of us who actually go look for a source if it’s not handy at the time of seeing. Posting a source is your moral obligation. In the same way that a museum has to at least try and specify who the artist of a given painting is so people can recognize said artist’s work, compare it with other works of theirs, etc, anyone who reposts something somewhere else automatically gains the duty of showing where the fuck that came from, since you’re showing it off for everyone to see. You owe the artist at the very least this." Source [http://carbunculus.tumblr.com/post/22708415702/how-to-source-images-properly-for-idiots]

@YinofYang omg i really agree with you . I really wanted to say this too! as a designer it hurts to see my works on the web without any credit to the me... I spent time on it and of course i would be happy to see people sharing it with others but it would be great if they credit my name and my portfoilio site!!!! . It's very rude if people dont credit
@rachelykim Definitely and well said. Everyone always thinks it's not a big deal, but it is. I'm trying to start a movement to get people to try to credit and link back to the artist. I don't know if it will work, but I'll certainly try and post more stuff about this issue.
@YinofYang great idea! I alwaya refer the work back to their site by using the link button on the writing form !
