4 Taiwanese Dramas Remade into Korean

I was talking to @cindystran recently about how I've only seen one Taiwanese drama ever, but it looks like I'll have to dive into that world soon!

Check out these 4 Taiwanese drama that have Korean counterparts!

1. Fated to Love You

Taiwanese version: Starring Joe Chen and Ethan Juan. This Taiwanese drama came out in 2008, and it broke rating records.
Korean version: Starring Jang Na Ra, Jang Hyuk and Choi Jin Hyuk. The series reunited Jang Hyuk and Jang Na Ra.
Plot: Making a mistake after having way too many drinks can change everything. Lee Gun is the successor to a large company run by his family. Kim Mi Young is an average-looking secretary in a law firm who earned the nickname “Post-It” for her inability to say no to her colleagues who dump work on her. When the two cross paths one night after having too much to drink, they end up having a one-night stand. When Mi Young finds out afterwards that she is pregnant, what will become of them?

2. My Queen

Taiwanese version: starring Ethan Juan and Cheryl Yang. And it was awarded the Best Channel Advertising at the 44th Golden Bell Awards.
Korean version: named "Witch's Romance". starring Uhm Jung Hwa and Park Seo Joon.
Plot: Two hard working people who have lost love in their lives meet and despite the age difference, they find a lot in common with each other, including their scarred hearts.

3. In Time With You

Taiwanese version: Starring Ariel Lin, Chen Bolin and Sunny Wang. "Li Daren" probably will be the most ideal prince in every girl's dream.
Korean version: The name of this Korean drama will is The Time We Were Not In Love with Ha Ji Won and Lee Jin Wook .
Plot: Oh Ha-Na and Choi Won are both 34-years-old. They have been friends for 17 years. Oh Ha-Na is currently a career woman with an honest and confident personality. Choi Won works as an assistant purser for an airline. He has always helped Oh Ha-Na whenever she got into trouble. Will Oh Ha-Na and Choi Won find love?

4. Absolute Boyfriend

Taiwanese version: Starring Jiro Wang and Gu Hye Sun. Consider how cute and pretty this couple is; you don't want to miss it. Its about an adorable girl who is consistently seeking for love but always has a lack of luck...so she has one custom made.
Korean version: There have been rumors about Absolute Boyfriend being remade into a Korean drama for a really long time. There is a Japanese version though!!!
Plot: Riiko Izawa has never had a boyfriend and she has been rejected by every boy she has ever had a crush on. When she returns a lost cell phone to an oddly dressed salesman, she mentions wanting a boyfriend. To thank her, he directs her to his company's website, Kronos Heaven. When she visits the site, Riiko finds it's a site to create your perfect lover. Thinking it's a game, she customizes and accidentally orders one. The next day, her new lover arrives.

there's another show that has both Korean and Taiwanese makes. however the Taiwanese make is the remake. The original show which is in Korean is called You're Beautiful and features FTIsland Hong Ki and CNBlue Yong Hwa. The Taiwanese remake is called Fabulous Boys. Basically the show is is about twins who switch places and are members of a boy band. The brother is the boy band member and the sister is a nun in training. however when the brother goes to America unexpectedly the sister has to take his place in the band without being caught.
I love the Korean version of Fated to Love You!
@matty0203 Absolute Boyfriend is a nice drama but I didn't really like the ending though. But maybe you will like it. And Jan Di from BOF is also in that drama

[Before K-Drama] Boys Over Flowers!
It's time for another "Before K-Drama" where we talk about what dramas were originally (webtoon, manga, book, etc) I'm pretty sure you all have heard of this little drama: Boys Over Flowers: It is based on Japanese manga Hana Yori Dango (花より男子) written by Yoko Kamio. There have been Japanese, Taiwanese, Indian, and, of course, a Korean remake! Most of them have had not only drama versions but also full length films! (It's called Meteor Garden in Taiwanese!) The Korean version, "Boys Over Flowers," is usually people's first K-drama and if you haven't seen it then you've definitely heard of it t least once! (Also, I don't know why Jan-di's legs are cut off in this photo hahaha) I actually watched Hana Yori Dango (the Japanese remake) completely by accident! My parents were trying to get me my first ever Korean DVD for Christmas and sort of failed ;P But it ended up being a good thing! They thought they got me Boys Over Flowers, but they got me the movie version of Hana Yori Dango! And it was sooo good! (Like, cheesy Japanese drama good, so...hahah) I haven't watched the drama yet though :D I haven't seen Meteor Garden (the Taiwanese version) either even though this was the first drama version of the manga! Which of these have you seen or read!? and if you havent seen any... Tagging my "Before K-Drama" folks! @merryjayne13 @Yongsongmi @Kamiamon @CreeTheOtaku @chongx @RaquelArredondo @KellyOConnor @Msrayray95 @drummergirl691 @netchtiBates @Lizzeh @PamelaPenaloza @Priscilla @biancadanica98 @petname83 @JamiMilsap @juniholtgrewe @sosoaloraine23 @sherrysahar @KiraHitomi @TLeahEdwards @shananunezl1234 @IMNII @SarahIvester
If BTS Were in Boys Over Flowers
Now, I think there are a lot of things wrong with the plot of BoF (mainly the boys treat Jan-di like crap) but its still funto imagine it as a less problematic drama. Here's who I'd cast! Gu Jun Pyo - Suga The leader of the F4 and heir to the Shinhwa Group, one of the biggest companies in South Korea. He is hot-tempered and believes that there is nothing that money can't buy. Though he's unable to express his feelings, deep down, he has a heart of gold. He torments Jan-di after she stands up to his bullying ways, but ends up falling in love with her and will do anything to protect her. Yoon Ji Hoo - V A member of the F4 and the grandson of a former president of Korea. He has a driving phobia after being involved in a car accident that killed his parents and left him the only survivor. He is initially in love with his childhood friend Seo-hyun, who helped him overcome his social anxiety. Calm and gentle, his musical talent catches Jan-di's attention and she begins to develop feelings for him. So Yi Jung - Jungkook A member of the F4 and a skilled potter. His family owns the country's biggest art museum. After losing his first love to his brother, he becomes a Casanova. He eventually changes his playboy ways when he realizes that he likes Ga-eul. Song Woo Bin A member of the F4, his family runs the country's largest construction company, which Woo-bin later admits has strong connections to organized crime. However, he has excellent business sense and is very charismatic. He's a super nice guy that happens to be a gangster lol and of course RM, Jin, and Jimin are the dad, mom, and little brother :) How would you cast BOF?
Flower of Evil - K-Drama Recommendation
Main Cast: Lee Joon Gi, Moon Chae Won, Jang Hee Jin, Seo Hyun Woo Episodes: 16 (1 Hour Episodes) - Currently Airing (On Viki) Rating: 15+ Genre: Thriller, Romance, Crime, Drama, Melodrama Other Genre Tags: Mystery, Serial Killer, Hidden Identity, Psychological, Suspense Synopsis: Baek Hee Sung seems like the ideal husband. A hard-working craftsman, his metal-working studio has met with its fair share of success. Able to provide a good life for his wife and daughter, he’s a good example of what a husband should be. But this perfect façade hides some very dark secrets that even his wife, Cha Ji Won remains unaware of. Unfortunately, secrets have a way of coming out and as a hard-hitting homicide detective, it’s Cha Ji Won’s job to uncover as many as she can, in her never-ending quest for the truth. While investigating a particularly cruel case, she finds herself on a dark path that could crumble the very foundations of her happy life. But she is determined to bring this psychopath to justice. Delving deeper into the case, she realizes that he may have been closer than she thought. (Source: Viki) My Thoughts: VERY intriguing so far! There are only 2 episodes out so far and it's very suspenseful and thrilling. This isn't really a spoiler but Baek Heesung/Do Hyunsoo (Lee Joongi) is suspected to be a serial killer but has changed his identity and has married Cha Jiwon (Moon Chaewon) who happens to be a cop. The two of them have a kid together, however, there's a kicker being that Heesung/Hyunsoo lacks emotions. Something he seems to have gotten from his father who is also said to be a serial killer. Note, this is not really a spoiler since all this is revealed within the confines of the first 2 episodes. I find this plot-line to be very new, at least to the Korean drama scene. The only Korean drama I can even pit against this one in being similar is Kill It and that is because the male in that drama is also a murderer, but their backgrounds are entirely different. You could say that Psychopath Diary is slightly similar, however, that drama is a comedy and is based off the idea of a misunderstanding. Even though we haven't been fully exposed to the idea that Heesung/Hyunsoo is infact a murderer we still see him doing stuff that someone who is innocent wouldn't do. I find this interesting. Another thing I like is that we get to see a character who has trouble showing emotions. This isn't something new to the K-Drama scene for we have seen similar variations in dramas such as It's Okay To Not Be Okay, Dr. Frost, Stranger (Forest of Secrets), and The Smile Has Left Your Eyes. It is nice to see characters that aren't perfect if that makes any sense! I am definitely curious to see where this drama leads and to find out if Heesung/Hyunsoo is actually a murderer or if he's being falsely accused and us the audience are being tricked! - See my last K-drama recommendations below: Train It's Okay to Not Be Okay Extracurricular Memorist & Arthdal Chronicles Rugal & 365: Repeat the Year The World of the Married & Find Me in Your Memory The King: Eternal Monarch & My Holo Love - What I'm Currently Watching: Flower of Evil 2/16 - Korean It's Okay to Not Be Okay 12/16 - Korean Psychopath Diary 5/16 - Korean Train 4/12 - Korean Trap 4/12 - Korean Web-drama U-Prince: The Badly Politics 3/4 - Thai - Friend Me On MyDramaList Here: Halsyeon - Asian Drama/Movie Taglist: @KendraReeve @travelloveskin @MelissaGarza @KpopIsPleasing @LostMage @2ilVer @LinnyOk @rocklvr @VeronicaArtino @Just2BLoved @Kyla05 If you'd like to be tagged in any of my Asian drama/actor stuff please let me know!
