DAY 12 - Saddest anime scene?

So, I am someone who can't possibly choose just one sad scene when I have seen many which is the same for anime deaths...
(SPOILER ALERT: THIS WHOLE CARD WILL BE A SPOIL IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN EITHER OF THESE ANIMES!)

ANGEL BEATS -

In a world after death, angels fight for their fate and their future. Yuri, the leader of the Shinda Sekai Sensen, rebels against the god who destined her to have an unreasonable life. On the other hand, Tenshi, the chairperson of the student council for the world after death, battles against the SSS members. SSS members utilize armed weaponry to battle it out against the angels harnessing supernatural powers.

ANOHANA -

A group of six sixth-grade-age childhood friends drift apart after one of them, Meiko "Menma" Honma, dies in an accident. Years after the incident, the leader of the group, Jinta Yadomi, has withdrawn from society, does not attend high school, and lives as a recluse. One summer day, the ghost of an older-looking Menma appears beside him and asks to have a wish granted, reasoning that she cannot pass on into the afterlife until it is fulfilled. At first, he only tries to help her minimally because he thinks he is hallucinating. But since Menma does not remember what her wish is, Jinta gathers his estranged friends together once again, believing that they are the key to resolving this problem. All of the group join him, though most of them do so reluctantly. However, things grow increasingly complicated when his friends accuse him of not being able to get over the death of Menma, for Jinta is the only one who can see Menma's ghost and his friends think he is seeing things. But as matters progress, it is realized that Jinta is not the only person in the group who is having trouble letting go of the past. It is revealed that all of the group members blame themselves for Menma's death and long-hidden feelings are rekindled. The group struggles as they grow from trying to help Menma move on and help each other move on as well.

WHY ANGEL BEATS & ANOHANA?

I know what everyone's thinking what about Clannad, Your Lie in April and a bunch of other sad anime's?
There are still other days that I may have to put that in for...
But the question was saddest anime scene not death and I believe these two anime's had by far the saddest scenes that made me cry my heart out.
Angel Beats is one of my favorite anime's and hold's a special place in my heart. It's really funny and heart wrenching. There are so many sad scenes throughout this anime that will tug at your heart forever. I haven't watched it in about 4 years and I still remember it so clearly. Hearing about some of the characters pasts and how they died is one of the saddest things ever. But the saddest scene from this anime is the well known Farewell scene between the male lead and Kanade who is known as Angel. You root for this couple until the end. In the last episode Ootonashi and Kanade are talking and while everyone is passing on to the next life. Kanade thanks him for giving her his heart and then he says that he loves her as they hug. She keeps saying thank you. Kanade asks him to say "i love you" again but he doesn't want to because he knows that she'll leave too. But she begs him and he screams, "I love you Kanade" and that's when all of our hearts tear out of our chests. She then says thank you again and disappears in his arms. Ootonashi screams "KANADE!" as he is crying. Also the sad song that plays during her pass on makes it even more sad!
I just recently watched Anohana and I loved it. As we were getting closer to the end of Anohana, I was already attached to Menma and then it was time for her to say her final goodbye to her friends who even got a chance to see her one more time.
I started to bawl in the last episode when Jinta was calling out Menma's name because he couldn't see her anymore but could still hear her. She said come and find me as she ran away. Menma went hiding and all of her friends were calling out her name trying to find her. They each get a letter from her saying how much she loves them and then they cry. They finally find her behind a tree as she is crying, she says "You found me!". And the ending music started to play, every time I listen to this song now it makes me cry. This anime had a beautiful ending. They all scream how much they love Menma and they all smile while crying as she disappears...
Both sad but beautiful endings with an emotional song added in.

I encourage all of you to do this challenge along with me, or just say in the comments what is the SADDEST anime scene you've ever scene!

Let Me Know! ^.^~

While kind of childish and generic, the scene in Pokemon: The First Movie where Pikachu is trying to get Ash, who has just been turned to stone, to move always gets me. Aside from that episode 16 of Clannad After Story has to be the saddest part of any anime I've seen
