U.S. and Russian officials are going to discuss the upcoming summit between Presidents Obama and Putin. The planned meeting between Mr. Obama and Mr. Putin is in doubt as Russia continues to refuse to return whistleblower Edward Snowden to the United States. Other obstacles to further cooperation center on the conflict in Syria, where Russia continues to aid the Assad regime. Russia does however want to move forward with the Syrian peace talks, which were agreed to in May but have not materialized. In addition, the U.S. and Russia have disagreements about nuclear weapons control and Iran.
