I predicted that President Obama would not make too big of a deal about Russia's decision to grand Edward Snowden Asylum. I was wrong, as the President has decided that "Russia's disappointing decision to grant Edward Snowden temporary asylum was also a factor that we considered in assessing the current state of our bilateral relationship." The White House also stressed tensions over missile defense/arms control, trade, global security (Syria), and human rights in Russia (probably the recent anti-gay legislation). I'm surprised to see Obama acting less like a realist and more like a liberal (using the political science definitions).
I think it's petty but I can't say what the implications will be. If I had to guess it'll blow over when the White House sees an opportunity to work together on Syria. I was wrong before though....
Wow what do you think are the implications of this decision? Do you think it was a smart move? Or petty?
