Korean beauty products and trend is taking over the beauty market both in America and in the European beauty market. The 10 Step Korean Skincare Routine is a popular lengthy skincare routine that consist of a variety of products. Not all women follow the 10 step routine, some may do 5 or even 7. The main purpose of the skincare routine is about being able to use different variety of products, depending on your type of skin type and concerns.
I am a very dedicated when it comes to taking care of my skin. Here is my step by step skin care routine and the products I am using.
Step 1: Oil Cleanser & Make up remover.
The first step in treating your skin right is by removing dirt and impurities. Makeup, BB Cream and Sunscreen does not get washed of properly with just a face wash. We therefore need to start our routine by removing any makeup or sunscreen with an Oil based Cleanser. Massage the oil based cleanser on dry face, splash some lukewarm water and continue massaging. Rinse it off with lukewarm water.
The product I use is Missha M Perfect BB Deep Cleansing Oil.
Step 2: Water-Based Cleanser
We wash our faces twice in this routine. We use the water-based cleanser to wash away any remaining impurities and residues from the Oil based cleanser.
The product I use is The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Foam
Step 3: Exfoliation
Exfoliation is very important for a polished complexion. Exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells and it helps the skin to absorb the skin products better. Exfoliate your skin up to twice a week.
The product I use is Skinfood Black Sugar Mask
Step 4: Toners/ Skin Refresher
Toners are important, they help to balance the pH levels of your skin and it prepares your skin to better absorb the skin care treatments that follows. You can sprinkle the toner directly to your hand and tap it directly to your skin or you can use a cotton round and gently swipe it all around your face with outward motions.
The product I use is Missha Time Revolution Clear Toner
Step 5: Essence
Essence is the main product of a Korean skincare routine. Essence is a combination of toner and serum that is meant for hydrating, skin repair and cell turnover. You apply it by sprinkling some on your hand and pat it directly to your face.
The product I use is Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence
Step 6: Serums, Booster & Ampoules.
Serums, Boosters and Ampoules are considered as treatment products, they are concentrated essence. You apply these products by tapping it on your face. You can buy Serums, Boosters and Ampoules for different skin issues such as pores, brightening, wrinkles and so on. Find the one that is meant for your skin issues or skin issues that you want to avoid.
The products I use here is Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair and Skinfood Black Pomegranate Oil
Step 7: Sheet Masks
Sheet Masks is like the soul of a Korean Skin care routine. They are skin nourishing ritual that provides an important treatment to your skin. This is the step in the routine where you can rest for 15-20min while you skin is being treated. Using masks once or twice a week is enough but you can use it every day if you want to.
I use different brands of face masks. Find the ones you like and they do not have to be from the same beauty brand.
Step 8: Eye Cream
The skin around our eyes is the most delicate skin on our face and we therefore need to treat it accordingly. We need to keep our skin around our eyes protected and hydrated. Use your ring finger to gently tap the eye cream around your eyes.
The product I use is Mizon Snail Repair Eye Cream
Step 9: Moisturizer
In order to obtain a dewy glowing skin you need hydration. It is important that you find a moisturizer that suits your skin type in order to protect your skin. Pat your moisturizer, morning and evening, all over your face and neck to keep your skin hydrated and protected. Use a sleeping pack twice a week to fully hydrate your skin.
The products I use are Laneige Water Sleeping Mask and Guerisson 9 Complex.
Step 10: Sun Protection
Sun Protection is the real anti-aging product. Apply sunscreen every morning before going out and through out the day if it is needed. UV rays have harmful effects on our skin and it is therefore important that we protect our skin from it through out the year.
You can use any sun protection, such as BB cream that has UV protection.
