Hey guys, the next chapter is here. I hope you're excited for it. The story still has some (I'm not saying how many) chapters to go. I hope the suspense isn't killing you too much.
Disclaimer: Many of the characters aside from BTS are made up. And, of course, I don't know BTS personally so their personalities are probably mostly fictional.
Character thoughts are in { } and words in English are bolded. Let me know if you would like to be tagged in the few future chapters. Please forgive me for any mistakes I make and I hope you enjoy!

Yoongi POV
Namjoon had been on my case for almost a week now. He kept insisting that there was nothing between him and Rose other than friendship, but I still refused to believe that. He wanted Rose and me to meet so that she could tell me, but I really didn’t want to do that. I figured that would only make it worse. I’d been able to control my anger better so far, but I haven’t been able to do much for my appetite or my mood. I’ve been able to put up a good façade for public appearances and filmings, but as soon as people weren’t looking and the camera wasn’t rolling, I went back to my now norm.
On Thursday, we came back to the dorm after a full day of filming our new music video. Thankfully, it was emotional song, not a happy-go-lucky song, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have been able to do it. I crashed on my bed and decided to nap until our dinner came. Days like this, no one asked Jin to cook. I woke up to the sound of Jin yelling to everyone that dinner was ready. I groaned as I reluctantly got out of bed. The last several hours were taking a toll on my body as I walked to the kitchen. Just before I reached the dinner table, Taehyung started yelling.
“Found it!” The other guys immediately jumped up from the table and over the couch. {What’s got them so excited?} Music started playing, some sort of piano piece. It was really pretty, but I didn’t feel like joining them. And then I heard singing. It was beautiful. I looked over at the TV. Neither the sound quality nor the video quality were very good, but I couldn’t help but be drawn to it. Some young girl was playing the piano and singing angelically. Because of the quality, I couldn’t really see the girl’s face, but everything seemed so familiar. The song ended and YouTube started to get ready to play the next video.
“Wow. Is that really her?” Jungkook asked.
“I looked it up. Her full name is Christina Mason. And the title says it’s her.” Taehyung assured us. {Who’s Christina Mason?}
“Wow. She had a beautiful singing voice. And her playing...she really puts emotion into it,” Jimin complimented.
“Wow...” Namjoon and Jin said simultaneously. Hoseok just stared, waiting for the next video to start. {Who the hell is Christina...Christina?}
I stood up. “Is that—is that Rose?” They all turned to look at me.
“Y-yeah,” Taehyung said nervously. {Why is he nervous? Unless...they did this on purpose}. Now I was pissed. I’d been controlling my anger like I should, so why did they feel it was necessary to rile me up again? They must’ve noticed the change in my demeanor because the maknaes immediately started fidgeting. The other ones just stared at me like they were waiting for me to do something. I decided to not let them get the best of me. I sat back down just as the applause on the video died down. I went back to eating. And then she spoke.
“This is a new song. You guys are the first to hear it, so I know it’s pretty rough, but I hope you enjoy it.” Her voice was a little different in the video, more pure and clear. I guess it made sense, she hadn’t damaged her vocal cords yet. And, man, did it made my heart flutter. Then she started playing. Within the first few notes, I recognized the song. It had been the one she played for me at her house. The song that made me certain that I was in love with her. And now, it made me freeze. Every emotion I’d been trying to suppress came back with a vengeance and I had to fight the overwhelming urge to cry. What were they trying to do? Remind me of what I couldn’t have?
When I heard the song starting to end, I looked at the TV. The video was fairly pixelated so I couldn’t see her clearly, but it didn’t matter. I could see her. I felt like someone was looking at me. I looked at the guys before locking eyes with Namjoon. {This was all his idea}. The song ended and as the applause started, Hoseok went to his room. I wanted to do the same.
“Are you going to eat or not?” I asked harshly. I heard sighs and snorts as they got up from the couch. They sat down at the table. Immediately, I got up and threw the rest of my food in the garbage. I headed back to my room. I froze in the doorway when I saw Hoseok. I’d forgotten that he came in already. Hoseok was laying on his back and had lifted his head when I came in. He laid back down and went back to staring at the ceiling. I followed his lead. One hand behind my head and one leg propped up, I rested without my music. I sighed and he chuckled lightly. I looked over at him and saw him turn to me. We both let out small snorts and went back to staring at the ceiling, this time smiling a little bit.
As horrible as it sounded, I felt a bit comforted to know that he was feeling the same. The room stayed silent, but it wasn’t an awkward silence, it was actually quite comfortable. A few minutes later, Namjoon came in. This time, I snorted in annoyance. Hoseok sat up.
“Just give it a chance,” Hoseok said almost offhandedly. I opened my mouth to reply, but he quickly left. Namjoon walked further in and I turned to face the wall.
“Are you happy?” I snarled at Namjoon. “I’ve been better for the last week. Outside of us, no one even suspects that anything’s wrong. So why the fuck are you doing this to me?!” I sat up on the bed and glared at him.
“Because I’m trying to help you. You refuse to believe me and you refuse to talk to Rose.” It pissed me off how calmly he was talking to me. “Just meet up with her once and talk through it. If you don’t, you’ll lose her.”
“I already lost her,” I replied. My pain helped to temper the anger in my voice.
“If that’s true, then what’s the harm in talking to her? If you’ve already lost her, then you can’t lose her again, can you? And if nothing else, maybe you can salvage the friendship that you’re effectively destroying.” {What the hell does that mean?} As if reading my mind he replied, “You have no idea how much you’re hurting her. In your head, you’re avoiding her to try to keep your feelings in check. In her head, you’ve been avoiding her since she told us about what happened to her. She thinks you’re judging her for it and that that’s why you’ve stopped talking to her.”
Namjoon’s words took me by surprise. I didn’t think about that. All I could think about was not coming between Namjoon and her.
Namjoon continued, staring me down, “You don’t believe me when I tell you that it’s you she likes. Fine, you have to hear it from her mouth. I can understand that. You don’t believe me when I say I don’t like her like that. Whatever. It’s stupid, but whatever. But you were friends before. She told me that she only feels disappointed, but according to Jin, who talked to Nina, Rose basically feels betrayed.” He stopped to let the words sink in. {Rose feels like I betrayed her? That hurts more than her being with Namjoon}. I felt sick to my stomach. I looked back to him.
“Now you understand? You’re selfishness is hurting her. You need to talk to her.” I nodded my head. “Good. Now we just have to convince her.”
Rose POV
Joonbug: “Noona, can we meet at the dorm on Saturday?” I read the text a few times. {What’s he up to?}
Me: “What for?” Ever since last week, Namjoon, Nina, Hoseok, and Jin have been bugging me to talk to Yoongi. I didn’t know why, but I wanted to less and less every time they talked about it. And now he wanted to meet?
J: “I know we’ve told you a thousand times that what’s going on with Yoongi is all because of a misunderstanding. You won’t believe us, so I want to tell you what happened in person. Please meet me. Hyung hasn’t been doing well either and I think if I explain it in person, you’ll finally believe me. Please?”
M: “I’ll think about it.”
J: “I guess that’s better than nothing. But give it serious thought, please. It’s just talking.” He had a point. It was just talking. Nothing bad could come of that, right?
M: “Yoongi won’t be there, right?” {I’ll leave immediately}.
J: “No. No one will be here. They all have plans.”
M: “Fine. We can talk.”
J: “Thank you!!! Come over at 2, ok? Last person leaves at 1:30.”
M: “Ok. I’ll be there. I have to go back to work now. Ttyl?”
J: “Me too. And yeah, ttyl.”
I set my phone down and picked up the top section from the stack of papers in front of me. I didn’t have any client meetings today, just checking for consistencies between an English and Korean copy of a contract. They wanted a third party to confirm that the contents were the same. And it was a freaking huge contract. {Time to get back to work, I guess}.
Narrator POV
“Okay, so find something to do for the next hour, ok? Rose will be here at 2 and I should finish explaining in maybe half an hour. Then I’ll leave you two to talk. Just text me before you get back ok?” Namjoon told Yoongi. It was only 1:15, but he knew that Rose liked to be early and he planned to tell her to come earlier if she was ready. And, of course, he didn’t want Rose to see that Yoongi was there.
“You’re not going to say anything...weird, are you?” Yoongi asked suspiciously.
“Weird like what?” Namjoon asked feigning ignorance.
“Weird like saying that I like her.”
“Oh, you mean the truth?” Yoongi glared at Namjoon. “Fine, fine. I wasn’t going to tell her anyway, I was going to let you tell her that.” Yoongi scoffed. “I was just going to explain the misunderstanding and if she asks why you would want to avoid her even if you thought we were dating, I’ll just say that you wanted to give us space. Or something like that. I’ll think of something. I’ll leave the confession to you. But just so you know it wasn’t me, Nina’s been telling her that you like her almost since we met her.”
Yoongi looked at Namjoon, startled. “She’s been what? W-why would—how could—what—“ Yoongi stuttered. Namjoon laughed.
“Nina’s apparently pretty observant. She suspected me and you since the beginning and she’s suspected Hoseok for a while too. Actually, she said she thought Taehyung was doing it too for a while, but that he backed off. So maybe she’s a little off. But regardless, I just want you to know that I didn’t say anything in case she mentions it.”
“Fine. Thanks for the warning. I’ll go find something to do.” Yoongi grabbed his ‘leaving the dorm’ attire and headed for the door. He gave one look back to Namjoon before sighing and leaving.
Namjoon a text to Rose: “If you’re already ready, you can come over.”
Rose: “Cool, I was actually just killing time at the library by your dorm.” “I’ll be there in 5 if that’s okay.” Although Namjoon didn’t expect her to be that close, he was fine with her coming over early. He could just text Yoongi to come back a little earlier.
N: “Perfect.” Namjoon hurried to double-check that everything was cleaned up. Five minutes later, there was a knock on the door. Namjoon opened the door and hurriedly ushered her inside. After she took her shoes off, he pulled her into a hug.
“It’s been a while, huh?” Namjoon asked. Rose made a noise of agreement.
Rose pulled back from the hug and smiled softly. “If only I was here for a more pleasant reason...”
“Yeah, but maybe it’ll be more pleasant after I talk to you.”
“Fingers crossed, I guess.” They both sat on the couch. The first couple minutes of the conversation started with just catching up on the last couple weeks. But Namjoon noticed that Rose kept looking at the rooms and the front door.
“No one’s here,” he assured her.
“I know,” Rose replied, her eyes still watching the doors.
“Would you rather we talk in my room?”
Rose considered the offer for a moment. “Maybe that’ll be better. I guess I just feel a little exposed in here.”
“No problem. I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable.” Rose grabbed her purse and the two of them moved to Namjoon and Jin’s room. They both sat on the edge of Namjoon’s bed. “Better?”
“A bit, yeah. Thanks,” Rose chuckled embarrassedly. There was awkward silence for a few seconds before Rose spoke up. “I guess we should talk about this ‘misunderstanding’” she said adding air quotes.
Namjoon sighed. “So when did everything start happening?”
Rose sighed back. “You know when, we’re not gonna play 20 questions are we?”
“Just bear with me on this. When did everything start happening?”
“Saturday after I told everyone what happened to me.”
“And what else happened on Saturday?”
Rose stopped to think. “ far as I know...What happened on Saturday?”
“I asked you if you were still going to the opera with me.”
“Soooo...” Namjoon dragged out the word. “You know that Yoongi has to think about everything before he decides what to say, especially on important things.” Rose nodded. “Well, he was going to talk to you when all of us weren’t surrounding you, so he waited until you went to the kitchen. And he heard me asking you.”
“So? What’s that got to do with anything?”
Namjoon sighed exasperatedly, “What has Nina continually told you about Yoongi?”
“What, that he likes me?”
“But that’s a load of bull and I know it.”
“You know it, huh? Then why would he get so jealous after hearing me ask if you were still going with me?”
“Who said he was jealous? Friends are allowed to hang out together. Why would he think it was anything other than that?”
“Because he heard me the first time I asked you. I didn’t even think about it when I said ‘It’s a date’, but he took it to mean that we were actually going on a date.”
“That doesn’t—“
“Hoseok told me that the two of them thought you were going on a date with me.” Namjoon paused. “Yoongi likes you and he thought you were dating me. That’s why he backed off. He didn’t want to tell his feelings to someone he thought was already taken and he was afraid that his behavior would give him away.” Rose opened her mouth to protest. “He told me that himself.” Rose froze.
“That’s not true...” she muttered.
“And then on the day of the opera, he happened across us. He tried to catch up to us and ended up walking up when we were in the alley. From his angle, he thought we were kissing. And that’s when he got worse. You may not believe me, but ask any of the guys. He was like a zombie for an entire week, barely eating, not sleeping, throwing himself into his work, but he couldn’t even work. He snapped at me a lot. And that’s when Jin confronted him and made us talk. And he told me. All of this. I told him that we were just friends, but he won’t believe me.”
“Why does he need to believe that?”
“What?” Namjoon sat there dumbfounded.
“Why. Does. He. Need. To. Believe. That.” Rose restated, emphasizing every word.
“Because it’s eating him up. Tell him—“
“I’m not going to tell him anything. I don’t want to do it anymore. Every time I’m around him, it hurts. Every time I look at him, it hurts. Every time he speaks, it hurts. Every time I hear him on the damn radio, it hurts.” Rose’s voice cracked as tears slipped from her eyes. “I had to take all BTS songs off my iPod because I couldn’t stand to hear his voice!” Tears continued drip down her face. “So please, just stop. I can’t do it anymore.” She started sobbing. Namjoon pulled her into a tight hug. {It wasn’t supposed to happen like this}, Namjoon thought. {She was supposed to understand and decide to tell Yoongi how she felt about him. Then he would confess back and they would both be happy. That was what was supposed to happen}. Namjoon thought he had had it figured out, but apparently being a genius didn’t mean that he could predict human behavior.
Suddenly, they heard the front door slam. Both of them were startled. “I thought no one was here.” Rose said accusingly.
“I swear it! No one was here! I saw them all leave.” It wasn’t even 2 o’clock yet. Namjoon checked his phone. He had a message. He unlocked his phone and opened the text.
Yoongi: “Hey, my headphones finally broke. I’m gonna grab my other pair before Rose gets there.”
“Oh shit.” Namjoon said under his breath. He hadn’t even felt his phone vibrate.
“’Oh shit’ what?” Rose demanded.
“I think... I think it was Yoongi-hyung...”
“What?!” Rose jumped off the bed and started wiping at her tears. “Why was he here?!”
“I don’t know, he wasn’t supposed to be back for a while.” {And you weren’t supposed to have that reaction}.
“Did he hear?”
“Judging by the slammed door, I’d say yes, and knowing his luck, he probably only heard the last part.” Rose stood there, mortified.
“Nonononononono. He wasn’t supposed to hear any of that. He probably thinks I hate him,” Rose muttered to herself. “What do I do? No. Nothing. I do nothing. He’ll stay away from me now. If he hates me, it’ll make it easier to get over him. That’s it. There’s nothing else to do.”
“And you’re okay with that?” Namjoon asked, grasping both of her shoulders.
“Does it matter? The person I’m in love with has never looked at me the way I’ve looked at him. And I don’t care what you or Nina say. Someone like him could never care for someone like me. I accepted that fact. I thought I would be okay just being close to him, but I was wrong. I can’t do it the way you read in books or see in dramas. I can be friends with my crush. I can be friends with someone I really like. But as soon as it turned into being in love with him, that wasn’t an option anymore. Maybe it means that I’m not strong enough. It doesn’t matter. It would’ve killed me. So...maybe this is for the best.” Rose swallowed the sob that threatened to escape again. {No more crying. I’m done. I have to be}.
So then... I wonder how big of a hole Rose and Yoongi can dig for themselves. Both of them have horrible luck and even worse timing. I wonder if it could really work out for them. Namjoon also appears to be telling the truth about the kiss and their feelings for each other. Will Yoongi believe him or will he even give it another chance? Poor kid. So, yeah, please don't kill me.
