DAY 73 - An underrated anime?

While at school, Taniyama Mai and her friends like to exchange ghost stories. Apparently, there is an abandoned school building on their campus that is the center of many ghost stories. During the story, they are interrupted by a mysterious male figure. The person turns out to be Shibuya Kazuya, a 17-year-old who is president of the Shibuya Psychic Research Company. He was called by the principal to investigate the stories surrounding the abandoned school building.
The next day, on the way to school, Mai passes the school building in question. While examining a strange camera she spotted inside, she gets surprised by Kazuya's assistant. Unknowingly interfering with the investigation, Mai breaks the camera and Kazuya's assistant gets injured.
Kazuya forcefully hires Mai in order to pay for the camera and replace his injured assistant. From that point on, Mai begins to learn about the paranormal world and the profession of ghost hunting.

If the opening doesn't get your skin crawling then the horror scenes sure will. I don't like horror as it is but for some reason, I couldn't stop watching... I didn't want to finish this anime because I was afraid that I would want more and that's exactly how I felt when I finished it but it never got a 2nd season, sadly.
The only things that I didn't like about this anime was the music and the fact that Mai would be surprised and shocked from any scary story she heard. They were too dramatic which I wasn't a fan of but if you get past that the anime is great. Another thing I wish this anime had was more romance between the main leads. You could tell they liked each other. Naru got jealous in some scenes and you could kind of tell and it was obvious that Mai liked Naru a lot. She would always say that she won't let Masako have Naru, jealousy is everywhere with her. Also she blushed a lot.
I watched the English dubbed version and man was it a cringe fest listening to the Australian guy (blonde haired guy). I was fine with everyone else but he just stuck out because of his voice. The art style isn't anything special, just simple yet well done.
My favorite character was definitely Naru. He has a cocky and stubborn personality but he is kind deep down just doesn't show it well. He protects Mai the best he can and doesn't want others to get hurt. The best scene is where he actually smiles, it only happens once though. He's not one to smile all the time but when we do see him smile it's at Mai and it's so cute! >.<
The scary scenes got my heart racing and I seem to always choose the wrong time to watch the episodes. Always at night, why did I do that? XD
I actually just finished this anime about a 2 weeks ago and I loved it. I would've loved it even more if there was a 2nd season and I saw more development between the main characters relationship. I want a kiss!!!
I think this anime needs more love, it's pretty underrated and doesn't get much recognition.
That being said, I recommend this anime to the horror and scary lovers out there because this is a great one. If you like romance that will get your heart racing from the horror and not the romance then give it a try.

I encourage all of you to do this challenge along with me, or just say in the comments what is the MOST underrated anime you've watched is!
