Yay! First week of school is finished and part 6 is done! Hope y'all enjoy!
Waking up the next morning, I lay still for a moment, thinking of what’s about to happen. We were allowed to choose our audition slots, and I picked a later time. Another quirk of mine. First slots are the worst, because the panel hasn’t seen many people yet, so they’re quite strict about what they’re looking for. Later in the day, they want to go home as much as we do, and start to think about what they might eat for supper, or what clothes they may wear to bed. Thus, not as strict. And allowed for more practice time.
I followed my pre-audition routine exactly, because this may be the only chance I have to be a trainee. I make my breakfast of two hard-boiled eggs, a handful of granola, a glass of orange juice, and one diced pear. I prepare my lunch in a small tupperware container, which consisted of two pieces of bread, some cheese, lunch meat, a banana, and some cooked asparagus. Usually I put it all together at the location because I spend every remaining minute practicing. After that’s ready to go, I put my hair up into a top knot and run through a shower. Getting dressed, I throw my lunch, some waters, and a few granola bars into a small backpack. Then I was out the door and on the way to TS.
My headphones were connected to my phone, blasting our audition music, and I thought about what I need to work on.
I hadn’t realized I was getting closer to someone, until I heard them turn around and shove their hand into my shoulder. “Back off, Carrie. And stop following me, that’s really creepy.”
It took a moment for me to register what was happening, and that only seemed to piss Marlene off. “Why are you staring like that? Already stunned by my building fame?”
“Nah, just wondering why you’d be insulted by me, considering we’re equally matched. Which, would mean you’re insulting yourself. And that would be the day the world stopped.” Well, your world stops.
“What’s that supposed to mean? And do you honestly think you could be a trainee, when all they need is me? Haven’t you heard about their issues? TS has been going through international conflicts because they have so few international idols. And I’m the one who will change it all.”
I stood there dumbfounded, suddenly thinking of how Jung Nam has been treating me. I try to think nothing of it, but it left me feeling uneasy. Was he up to something?
“Well, if you want even a sliver of a chance, you might want to hurry up. You suck and need all the practice you can get.”
Glaring at her, I kept a normal pace and walked off to a practice room. Man, I hope she gets a reality check. And soon.
Luckily, Marlene was confident enough to sign up for a earlier audition so I wouldn’t have to see her for much longer.
I went through all the moves, triple checking I was hitting each point at the exact
moment I should. I was in the practice studio right next to the auditions, so I could be ready incase auditions were running ahead of schedule. And so I could listen to what they were saying. What can I say? I like to keep tabs on the competition.
Marlene’s little posse was waiting right outside the door, trying to listen in because they had blacked out the windows. Suddenly, there was a loud boom, and someone was
yelling in Korean. Marlene began to yell back, and I could tell what was happening because she was speaking in English.
“I DIDN’T DO THAT TO CARRIE! I NEVER THREATENED HER! WE AVOID EACH OTHER BECAUSE WE’RE COMPETITION RIGHT NOW!”
Someone said something about a source observing her making threats to me, and understanding every word she said. Wait, Jung Nam had put a guard by my room because he thought something like this might happen. Is that their source?
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN, I NEVER HAD A CHANCE? I’M ONE OF THE BEST DANCERS YOU COULD HOPE FOR! THIS COMPANY WILL FAIL WITHOUT ME!”
Whoever it was had said that she will have no chance at any other company, because they will tell everyone else about this outburst.
“YOU CAN’T DO THIS TO ME! MY ENTIRE SCHOOL KEPT PUSHING ME BECAUSE THEY WANT THE FAME AS MUCH AS I DO! WHAT DID I DO FOR THIS?”
She started to sob and ran out of the room, slamming the door. I just sat down and smiled smugly, happy that she got her dose of reality. But I also felt bad for her. My food was calling, so I ignored what just happened and ate.
I kept working through everything, stretching every now and then, when someone, Jung Nam, came into my space.
“Carrie? Things are running ahead. Are you ready?”
I nodded my head yes, and took a sip of water, feeling better than I ever had.
Entering the room, the panel looked up at me, excitement in their eyes but not on their faces. I smiled and hit my first position, cueing the music to start.
Hope y'all enjoyed this part!
Love you guys! ~Elayne
