In fact, something known as "quantum teleportation" became a reality in 1997. This first demonstration was for particles of light (photons). Since then, physicists have also applied teleportation to other very small things, for example single atoms. More interesting is the fact that if you wanted to teleport a single person, it requires 1e+22 (10 to the 22th power) gigabytes of hard drive space. Thats a stack of hard drives 20 light-years tall.
