It's almost Christmas! So here is a Christmas oneshot. If you don't celebrate Christmas, feel free to just ignore this card. I don't intend to offend anyone by this card!
As the front door opened, my heart jumped as I hurried to close the bedroom door.
“Babe?” Jae’s voice called out from behind the door as he jiggled the doorknob.
“You can’t come in!” I yelled, leaning against the door with all my might. Jae’s laugh echoed through the door.
“Why not?” He asked, pushing the door open.
“Nooooo! I’m still wrapping your presents!” I yelled, pushing as hard as I could to keep the door closed.
“Still? Christmas is in 3 hours.” He laughed, “You don’t have to wrap anything at this point.”
“Yes I do! I need to wrap them because that’s the fun part!” I said, looking at the crumpled mess of wrapping paper laying on the bed as I tried to wrap several of his presents, but failing.
“Ok, ok. I’ll leave you alone….if you give me a kiss.” I could hear his smirk.
“No.” I smiled.
“Oh, come on, I haven’t seen you all day!”
“..fine. Close your eyes, don’t peek at your presents.”
“Promise.” He said.
I slowly opened the door to look at him right as he peeked one eye open. I frowned at him and he smiled a huge smile and closed his eyes again. I closed the door behind me, gave him a quick peck on the lips then ran back inside the room.
“Hey!” He yelled.
“You’ll get more later! I need to finish this!” I laughed.
“Fine….” He muttered, walking away. I opened the door as he sulked down the hallway.
“Jae!” I called, making him turn around, the Christmas lights I put on the hall around our pictures reflected in his glasses. “I love you!” I did a hand heart, making him smile. Going back in the room, I closed the door and locked it.
“What do you want for dinner?” Jae yelled from the living room.
“Pizza is fine!” I yelled back, sitting on the bed and biting my lip as I tried to fold a new set of headphones in Disney princess wrapping paper. I chose it partly because I want to see his reaction and because I was so late in getting it that it was either princesses or Minions. Now let’s be honest, we’d all probably get the princess one, just to mess with him.
“Pepperoni?” He asked, sounding closer to the door.
“Uh huh.” I muttered, sticking my tongue out as fiddled with the wrapping paper and hissing in pain as I got another paper cut. My hands were already covered in bandages from getting paper cuts. Paper cuts and stepping on a Lego…the most painful things in the world.
“You realize there’s a door between us right? I can’t really hear you.” Jae laughed. Jiggling the handle, he laughing harder. “You really locked it?”
“Of course I did! I don’t ever trust a chicken with glasses!”
“For that I’m getting pizza with everything you hate on it!” He yelled, laughing.
“Fine! Then I’m not cooking tomorrow night. You’ll have to survive without turkey or ham or mashed potatoes or-“
“Okay, okay, I’m sorry.” He said quickly.
“Just get whatever you wa- ow shit!” I yelled after I tried getting a piece of tape and cutting open my finger on the blade.
“What’d you do this time?” He asked.
“Nothing it’s fine.” I said, standing up and walking into the bathroom connected to our bedroom and opening the cabinet above the sink, getting the bandages out again. This was worse than a paper cut, but not by much. A little antibacterial ointment and a bandage and it’ll be fine. The door jiggled again as Jae tried to get in the room. “Jae I said its fine.” I told him, focusing on my bleeding hand.
“Jesus..” He said, his voice right next to me. I jumped at looked at him.
“How the hell did you get through the door?”
“If you jiggle the handle enough, the lock unlocks itself.” He said, grabbing my hand.
“You’ve gotten so many paper cuts from just trying to wrap my presents.” He shook his head, with a smile slowly forming on his face. “You’re so damn clumsy.” He laughed. He grabbed the bandage and put it on my finger and bringing it up to his lips, kissing it. “Come on, you can finish wrapping them later. Don’t worry, I didn’t peek.” He said, pulling me out of the bathroom and I immediately covered his eyes with my hand, making him laugh.
“I don’t trust you not to peek. I know you.” I said, pushing him quickly out of the room and closing the door.
“I’m offended.” He said, grabbing his chest as I took my hand off his eyes.
“You’ll get over it.” I laughed, pushing him down the hall. “Now order the pizza.”
“Is that all I’m good for? Ordering pizza?”
“Yes. Pizza is your specialty. I mean…you’re also a pretty decent boyfriend as well.” He just smirked and pretended to wipe off his shoulders.
Two hours later, Jae and I were cuddling on the couch while watching How The Grinch Stole Christmas. I was slowly falling asleep as I rested my head on his chest. Glancing at the clock, I slowly pulled away from him.
“Where are you going?” He mumbled, sounding like he was almost asleep as well.
“I need to finish wrapping your presents.” I said, stretching and yawning.
“Just forget it, come here.” He pulled me close to him again. Although I wanted to just stay there, this was officially the first year that Jae and I were having Christmas together. The years before, I could at least get my mother to help me wrap.
“I need to at least try and wrap them. How am I ever going to wrap presents when we have kids?” I joked, wrapping my arms around his waist.
“We’ll pay someone to wrap them.” He laughed. I looked up at him and kissed his chin.
“I’ll be back.” I said, pulling away.
“How many presents?”
“Ok…” He pouted.
“I’ll try to hurry.”
Another hour passed and I ended up wrapping all the presents, successfully. And by that I mean the wrapping paper was basically a crumpled mess, but hey, they were wrapped. I had also managed to fall asleep on the bed.
“Babe?” Jae knocked on the door before opening the door. He laughed as he saw me passed out with tape stuck in my hair and princess wrapped presents lying on the bed in front of me. “Baby, wake up. Let’s go to bed.” He sat down next to me, trying to pull the tape out of my hair.
“What time is it?” I muttered.
“It’s like 12:45.” He said, sitting me up and laughing when my eyes shot open, looking for the presents. “You wrapped them all. I like the choice of wrapping paper.”
“Thought you would. Let me take them to the tree then let’s go to bed.” I said, standing up.
“Alright, I’ll help you.” He laughed. After we took the presents and stuck them under the tree, we got back in bed and started cuddling again.
“Merry Christmas, Jae.”
“Merry Christmas.” He said, holding my hand out and kissed the bandages, one by one. “Goodnight.” He whispered, humming softly until I fell asleep.
