I'm doing a Top 10 instead of a top for this genre because I've seen quite a few school kdramas. It was hard to gather just 10 but I did and it was even harder to put them in a specific order because they are all so good. IT'S ALSO HIGH SCHOOL GENRE WEEK!!! This top 10 is perfect for the theme. But here I go, ENJOY!

10. Playful Kiss (Source: AsianWiki)

PLOT: "Mischievous Kiss" is a romantic-comedy covering the romance between Baek Seung-Jo (Kim Hyun-Joong), an arrogant young man with a genius IQ, and Oh Ha-Ni (Jung So-Min), a ditzy young woman who gets poor grades, but whose heart is as powerful as Seung-Jo's mind. The series is based off from a Taiwanese drama and a Japanese manga book. It is call "It Started With a Kiss." It is about a girl in F class that falls in love with an A class boy. She liked him since the first year of high school. Once, she decided to tell him she likes him but was rejected. So the story continues about the girl who keeps chasing after the boy she loves.

"Playful Kiss" was the very first drama I ever watched! It's low on my list because it wasn't the best. I love the plot, the whole reason I watched this was because of the plot, I knew the plotline sounded familiar and that's because it was based on the manga known as "Itazura na kiss" which I saw the anime of. I got hooked in because of the male lead and thought he was super handsome and kept watching. It was a great drama but lacking, they didn't complete the storyline like other versions did. They left a whole chunk of the story out which was upsetting. There were some elements from this version I did like more than the others like the rain kiss. It was so perfect. But the main reason I was upset with this drama was the missing other half. I still recommend it though if you have seen the other versions.

9. To The Beautiful You (Source: DramaWiki)

PLOT: The series centers on Goo Jae Hee (Choi Sulli), a Korean girl who lives in the United States. One day, she sees a track and field competition on TV, and becomes attracted to one of the high jump competitors, Kang Tae Joon (Choi Min Ho). She begins to idolize the young athlete and eventually transfers to Korea to attend the same school that Tae Joon attends after he suffers an accident that could potentially end his career. There is a catch, however: Tae Joon attends an all-boys high school and Jae Hee must disguise herself as a boy to enter.

Fun story! I love gender bender dramas! Other than the female lead trying to look like a male and completely failing. That was my only problem with this drama. I'm so happy that the 2nd male lead was the first to give me 2nd lead syndrome. He's so kind, cute and funny. I couldn't help but love him although I still loved Choi Min Ho's character too. I was all confused on who I wanted her to end up with. But I was happy with whoever she ended up with. Good plot, so funny and good cast. Great soundtrack!

8.Who Are You: School 2015 (Source: MyDramaList)

PLOT: Sekang High School is the most prestigious private high school in Seoul's Gangnam District, and Go Eun Byul (Kim So Hyun) is the most popular girl there. Meanwhile, her identical twin Lee Eun Bi (Kim So Hyun) is living in an orphanage and is being bullied at school. Then one day, Eun Byul mysteriously disappears. Soon after, Eun Bi loses her memories and is mistaken as being Eun Byul. Eun Bi then starts living her life as Eun Byul.

Amazing drama! Good plot, it did get confusing most of the time but it was cleared up in the end which was good. This drama could've been ranked higher if the ending was better, I didn't like how they ended it. I wanted the 2nd male lead to be HAPPY! T.T Amazing soundtrack, I just love the music so much! Good cast, I found my BTOB bias <3 This may not be the drama that made me fall for Nam Joo Hyuk but that's okay. This was a great drama!

7. Reply 1997 (Source: DramaWiki)

PLOT: This drama will focus on the extreme fan culture that emerged in the 1990s when idol groups took center stage and K-pop was blossoming. It tells the story of 6 former high school friends from a school in Busan who meet again in 2012 and brings back memories to 1997 when they were still high school students. Moving back and forth between the ’90s and today, the story centers on the life of Sung Shi Won (Jung Eun Ji), who idolizes boyband H.O.T., and her 5 high school friends.

I know Reply 1997 is a dearly loved school drama by many and it's a classic but to be completely honest, I forgot most of what happened in this drama. Some of it was dull to me. The things that stuck out for me was the great chemistry between the main couple, the amazing kiss scenes, the bromance (I LOVED!) and the comedy. But the drama dragged in my opinion, this was one of the dramas I started and watched about 3 episodes of and then got back to and completed. It is a good drama though in the long run, it just wasn't my favorite like most.

6. Heartstrings (Source: Wikipedia)

PLOT: Set at an art university, the youth romance drama "Festival" depicts the sweat and tears of students who run towards their dreams of love and friendship. Kyu-Won (Park Shin-Hye) is a bright girl and a highly skilled gayageum player. She is in the Korean traditional music department. Kyu-Won also comes from a family who has one of the three best pansori singers in the world. Shin (Jung Yong-Hwa) is a cold and refined young man, while being a highly skilled guitarist. He is in the applied music department. They come from different family backgrounds and have an argument, but then start to like other.

I LOVE HEARTSTRINGS! But I have reasons why it's not higher up. For starters although the main couple had chemistry, the kiss scenes are what holds me back. THEY ARE SO BAD!!! I did really enjoy this drama a lot, other than that. It was cringy to watch them kiss. Park Shin-hye thank Lee Jong Suk for the good kisses in Pinocchio XD I like the story, I love music. So this drama was enjoyable. The music was great! CNBLUE bias found! (Jung Yong-Hwa not Kang Min Hyuk, I love him too but not more than Yong-Hwa) He's so HANDSOME and his voice. He is so my style and he looks so good with black hair! I didn't like him in You're Beautiful... Anyway, I loved the cast in this and it was funny and cute!

5. Dream High & Dream High 2 (Source: MyDramaList)

PLOT (Dream High): Dream High tells the story of six students at Kirin Art High School who work to achieve their dreams of becoming music stars in the Korean music industry. Go Hye Mi (Bae Suzy) is a student who had majored in classical music but has to give up her dream by entering Kirin Art High School to pay off her father's debt. However, she needs to get two other students to also come to the school in order for her to enroll in the school conditionally. These two students are Song Sam Dong (Kim So Hyun) , who lives in the countryside, and Jin Guk (Ok Taecyeon) , whom she accidentally meets while trying to escape from a loan shark. Yoon Baek Hee, formerly Hyemi's sidekick, becomes her rival in school because Hye Mi betrays her during an audition to enter the school. PLOT (Dream High 2): Kirin High School of Art has been taken over by Oz Entertainment because of financial bankruptcy. Oz Entertainment then transfers over its own idol stars to Kirin High to avoid a law requiring under age entertainers to study for a set time. Competition then brews between troubled students at Kirin High School of Art and then newly transferred idols from Oz Entertainment. Shin Hae-Sung (Kang So-ra) enters Kirin High School of Art with a high written exam score, but poor performance scores. She then meets fellow students Jin Yoo-Jin (Joo-won) and JB (Im Jae-Bum), who makes her realize how fun music can be. Jin Yoo-Jin acted when he was a young child. Now, he is a troubled student dreaming of becoming a rock star. He attempts to cure his pain caused by his parent's divorce through music.

I loved both Dream High and Dream High 2 although a lot of people didn't like Dream High 2, I liked it. It's the drama that introduced me to my kpop ultimate bias! I love you JB! Dream High has a fun plot and great cast and the music is so fun to listen. Although the 2nd season had a weak plot, what I loved was the cast. It was a fun cast and some scenes and memorable. There are just some things I liked from the first season more than the second. But these come in a packaged deal for me. That's why they are put at #5 together.

4. Heirs (Source: Wikipedia)

PLOT: Kim Tan (Lee Min-ho) is a wealthy heir to a large Korean conglomerate. He was exiled to the U.S by his brother Kim Won (Choi Jin-hyuk), who tries to take control of the family business. While in the States, he meets Cha Eun-sang (Park Shin-hye), who went there to look for her sister. Despite being engaged to Rachel Yoo (Kim Ji-won), a fellow heiress, Kim Tan soon fell in love with Eun-sang. When Kim Tan returns to Korea, his former best friend turned enemy Choi Young-do (Kim Woo-bin) begins picking on Eun-sang to irritate Tan. Tension ensue when Young-do also falls in love with Eun-sang, and Kim Tan is forced to choose between responsibility or love.

Back with the bad kiss scenes... I'm sorry but it's just so horrifying. Even the make out scene in this drama. She looks scared of Lee Min Ho. I would be all up in that but she just looks like she's being raped. I'm not even hating on Park Shin-hye everyone that has seen this drama knows it's bad. Shin-hye is my favorite actress so I'm definitely not hating. She's an amazing actress besides her kisses. The plot isn't anything too special but it's more about the cast that made me love this drama. Kang Min Hyuk, Lee Min Ho, Choi Jin Hyuk, Park Shin Hye, Kim Woo Bin and others. The bromance is real between Min Ho and Woo Bin, they are hilarious together. Not only do I love the cast but the soundtrack. The Heirs soundtrack is one of my all time favorites, it's amazing! "Heirs" is a hit or miss drama for most. You either hate it or love it but I for one loved it! I definitely want to rewatch this drama. It also had some touching scenes that I love. It's a very memorable drama for me. It's a great drama if you forget the kiss scenes...

3. Boys Over Flowers (Source: DramaWiki)

PLOT: Geum Jan Di (Koo Hye Sun) is an ordinary girl whose family owns a dry cleaning store. While delivering dry cleaning to a student at the prestigious Shin Hwa High School, she saves his life by stopping his attempt at jumping off the roof and is given a full swimming scholarship. She attends Shin Hwa High and soon is terrorized by the leader of F4 (the four richest and most popular boys at the school) Go Jun Pyo (Lee Min Ho). Although Jun Pyo persists on bullying her, he begins to find himself attracted to Jan Di. However, Jan Di has a crush on Yoon Ji Hoo (Kim Hyun Joong), Jun Pyo's best friend. When she realizes that Ji Hoo is merely a close friend and that she really loves Jun Pyo the couple are thrown into a dilemma as Jun Pyo's mother sets out to break them up and find a more suitable match for her son.

Of course the classic "Boys Over Flowers" is on this list. Why wouldn't it be? If your a Asian drama fan than more than likely you've watched this drama. Many drama fans first drama is usually "Boys Over Flowers". It's extremely popular yet cliché but it is loved by many for so many reasons! This was the 2nd drama I've ever seen and I still love it. It has a nostalgic feeling and it introduced me to one of my favorite actors Lee Min Ho. Has a great cast, not the best chemistry but definitely a feeling between the main couple. The reason this drama is so loved is mostly because of the storyline and many people loved the 2nd male lead although I didn't. I fell for Jun Pyo quickly, he's just so handsome and has his charms and grows to be sweet. The soundtrack is beautiful! This is a must watch for all drama lovers!

2. Sassy Go Go (Source: Wikipedia)

PLOT: Set at the elite Sevit High School in Seoul, the drama follows the lives of five students as they attempt to survive in a vicious environment where academic elitism takes place. Kang Yeon-doo (Jung Eun-ji) is the leader of outcast street dance club "Real King", a group of students who band together because of their poor academic performance, whereas Kim Yeol (Lee Won-keun) is the President of "Baek Ho", an elite club composed of students from the top 5 percent. When the two clubs are forcibly merged to create a cheerleading squad, the two put their differences aside for the benefit of their clubs. As they go on with their misadventures, many things happen that result in a strong and unbreakable bond. Cheer Up! is a story that aims at ordinary high school students' misadventures including love, heartbreak, pain and friendship.

Cute high school drama. Fun cast. I got to see a whole lot of new faces in this drama. The only actor I knew in this was Eun-ji because of Reply 1997. She's very talented and I completely fell for Lee Won-Keun's character in this. His eyes are so dreamy and I get lost in them... This drama also lead me to VIXX and I biased N because of it. Storyline is decent. What really got me loving this drama was the really touching scenes and the main couple. I'm sorry to everyone who got 2nd lead syndrome while I was one of the people who didn't. I just couldn't fall for him instead I just felt bad for him. He has a rough life. There are some heartbreaking scenes that just made me tear up.

1. Weightlifting Kim Bok Joo (Source: MyDramaList)

PLOT: Kim Bok Joo (Lee Sung Kyung) is a student in Haneol College of Physical Education. She has shown strength like no other since she was a child was influenced by her former weightlifter father. She looks thoughtless at a first glance, but inside she’s as fragile as glass and has deep recognition. Jung Joon Hyung (Nam Joo Hyuk) is Kim Bok Joo’s best friend. He is a born swimmer but ever since he was disqualified from his first international event, he suffers from ‘start trauma’. Along with Kim Bok Joo, he overcomes his troubles and finds his dream and love. Song Shi Ho (Kyung So Jin) is a rhythm gymnast who also attends Haneol College of Physical Education. She started gymnastics since she was 5 and won the Asian Games at the age of 18. She’s always been the best since then but mental pressure caused her to break up with Jung Joon Hyung and regret it.

I just finished the last episode of this drama and it climbed it's way to the top of this list. I adore this drama and the whole cast. I fell madly in love with Nam Joo Hyuk and the chemistry the main couple shared. They were so sweet and I love them so much! The storyline is nice too. The only difference I think this drama could've had was for Bok Joo to notice her feelings earlier before Joon Hyung had to make her fall for him with a kiss. I would've liked it if she could've realized on her on. And didn't just switch her feelings for him automatically. But I did love this couple a lot. Definitely one of my favorite drama couples. Had such an adorable ending. I think Nam Joo Hyuk and Lee Sung Kyung have the best chemistry I've seen in a college drama and school drama. They are such a great pairing! I love that this drama has a way of touching me in the feels so deeply, I teared up so easily in some scenes and bawled in a few. I WANT MORE OF THIS DRAMA!!!

I haven't watched Weightlifting Fairy yet, but I did like Cheer Up! Another one not on the list I liked was School 2013.
