The Pains of Our Yesterdays C14- Firsts
Hey guys. I wasn't able to finish before leaving but hopefully I can work some on the plane. By the time this comes out, I will almost be in America. I hope it doesn't glitch again since I won't be able to fix it. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy the story. There's a small announcement in the story and a reiteration after the chapter in regards to the next few posts, so please look for those.
Let me know what you think.
Thank you to all of you who are reading, liking, clipping, following, and commenting.
Disclaimer: Many of the characters aside from BTS are made up and BTS themselves are not BTS in this story. And, of course, I don't know the BTS boys personally so their personalities are probably mostly fictional.
Character thoughts are in { }.

Narrator POV
Slowly, everyone went back to eating. Jin and Jiyoung stayed lost in thought. Breakfast finished and everyone divided to take care of their own errands. Jungkook went to study in his room, Hoseok and Taehyung left to visit their family, and Yoongi and Namjoon had to work on something related to their company. Jin, JiEun, Jiyoung, and Jimin decided to go together to shop for the guest/Jiyoung’s bedroom furniture. Jin and JiEun decided that it’d be best not to paint the room because it would take to long for Jiyoung to be able to claim it then. Instead, they spent a lot of time picking out decorations, shelving, etc. for Jiyoung to make it her room (though Jiyoung kept protesting). With Jin’s (obvious) acceptance, most things picked were shades of pink and blue.
Various furniture pieces were picked and scheduled for delivery the next day. The last store on their list was for Jiyoung to find a mattress and bedding. JiEun pulled Jiyoung to bounce on some of the beds with her. Jin and Jimin laughed at their antics before they themselves were forced to join. Somehow, Jimin and Jiyoung ended up on the same bed. They both flopped onto the bed, face down, arms outstretched. Jiyoung wiggled her way farther up on the bed. Jimin laughed to himself because Jiyoung just looked too cute.
Jiyoung looked at him and the two just laid there, staring at each other. Jiyoung decided that, before she asked JiEun about it, she had to do some research herself. Was it possible for her to like two people at the time? She already knew the answer to that. But what was she supposed to do about it? And, more importantly, did either of them even like her the way she liked them? If one of them did, then that should be who she focused on, right? Or could she even choose? There were too many thoughts.
Jimin stared at her, wishing he could brush back that single strand of hair that was laying on her cheek. When he’d brought back that woman Friday night, he was trying to get Jiyoung out of his head. It didn’t work at all. If anything, that fact that she wasn’t her made it worse. But he had thought that maybe he should try it again. Even the next morning, he made sure that he stayed at least a bit friendly with the woman...until the words from the night before came back. The blank look on Jiyoung’s face hurt him in a way he had never expected. And when she had forgiven him after what he had done, he could no longer deny that he was falling for her. Hard. And that wasn’t something he wanted. He was afraid he would hurt her. At the same time...maybe she could heal him... But what if the cost of doing so meant that he would end up tainting her.
JiEun and Jin came over asking if she had decided yet. She patted the bed she was laying on. “This one.” They finished up and left.
Over the next week, JiEun and Jiyoung, and periodically one of the other guys, worked to organize and decorate the room. By that weekend, everything was set up. Jiyoung moved out of JiEun’s room and into hers {Not yours, the guest room}. They all celebrated by raiding the room and playing board games for a couple hours. The next couple weeks passed similarly. Jin kept Jiyoung up-to-date on their search for her aunt, but there were no leads. Jiyoung tried to avoid her feelings for the Hoseok and Jimin by drowning herself in her studies. They discovered that she had an almost photographic memory, another ‘coincidence’ she shared with SooJin. But no one talked about that very much. Jin had done his best to make sure that he treated Jiyoung the same as before; not as his sister SooJin, but just as his sister.
Both Hoseok and Jimin fell for Jiyoung more as time passed. By then, everyone, except Jiyoung, had at least suspicions regarding the two. Especially Jimin, who had not gone clubbing since the previous incident. Jiyoung’s research into the matter of her having feelings for two people was not encouraging. All her books could tell her was that she had to ‘follow her heart’. But she didn’t know what that was supposed to mean. Both of the men made her feel similarly, but in different regards. She still didn’t know if either of them even liked her.
Jiyoung did notice that Jimin didn’t go out anymore, but she figured that he was just trying to avoid what had happened before. If she were to look at the both of them objectively, Hoseok was obviously the safer choice. Jimin had a history of being a playboy and something like that would be hard to change. But she knew people could change; she, herself, was changing. It only made her dizzy when she tried to think about it, so she tried to avoid her feelings. Neither Hoseok nor Jimin helped her with that. They both tried to stay close to her whenever possible.
Jimin also worked to get Jiyoung in the habit of exercising in order to help get her back to being healthy. He encouraged her to run with him at night. She also developed a habit of running in the morning after everyone left. It made her feel good to be able to do things she wasn’t able to do at her old house. And when she wasn’t studying, she would ask the maids to take her with them when they ran errands for the house. Jiyoung wanted to be normal and felt like she was accomplishing this a little more every day.
Taehyung and Jungkook played videogames with Jiyoung every chance they could. Namjoon helped Jiyoung with her studies when he could. Memorizing was one thing, being able to use the concepts she learned was another. Yoongi encouraged Jiyoung in broadening her musical horizons. Jin cooked with her whenever he had the chance. JiEun took Jiyoung out whenever she went out, whether shopping or just hanging out. Hoseok was at first worried that he didn’t have anything to teach her or do with her, but he quickly found that the two of them could just sit and talk for hours. Sometimes they talked about random things, like what movies she should watch or movies they had recently watched, where they would go on their next group outing, why did guys have to wear ties.
Other times, they talked about themselves. Everyone knew that she was afraid of the basement, but only Hoseok knew exactly what things occurred there. The darkness, the quiet, the single bottle of water, and the hastily constructed toilet in the corner. She would recount specific incidences and when she would start to shake, Hoseok would quietly hold her until she calmed down. It slowly became less and less painful to recall her memories. Hoseok encouraged her to talk to the others about things like that as well. But they also talked about happier things like the few memories she had of her grandparents.
In turn, Hoseok told her about his childhood. He told her about the girl, they were both 19 at the time, that he had been in love with. How he knew he wanted to marry her. And that she cheated on him and broke his heart. Hoseok didn’t tell her that the one she cheated on him with was Jimin. And that it had destroyed their friendship for some time.
Another month allowed Jiyoung to figure out some more of her feelings towards the two men. With Jimin, she felt like a normal woman. He didn’t treat her like she was fragile. He treated her like she was important and he made sure to be cognizant of her actions and reactions, but he didn’t treat her like she would break with just a touch. He just listened. Sometimes he’d ask questions, sometimes he made comments, but he didn’t try to fix it. He said that the past wasn’t as important as the present or the future. The past helped shape us, but the present defined us, and the future helped move us forward.
With Hoseok, it was different. When they talked about her past, he tried to help her, to heal her. Being around him made her feel like she was trying to fix her past. She liked it just as much as she liked how Jimin would just listen.
Both of them made her laugh. Both of them were there for her and supported her. How could she possibly choose which one meant more to her? So she didn’t. She just tried to stay friends with both of them.
Out of nowhere, over a dinner with everyone, Taehyung informed Jiyoung of something they used to periodically do with JiEun. On different weekends, one of the guys would take her out on a ‘date’. By this, he explained, whoever the guy was for that weekend, he would take JiEun to various places and treat her. Pizza, ice cream, movies, parks, theme parks, wherever she wanted. Because of their status, it was very difficult for JiEun to make friends. Most people were afraid of getting tangled up with the girl protected by the seven chaebols. So they treated her instead. Taehyung’s purpose for this was to get Hoseok and Jiyoung out on a date together. Taehyung volunteered first, no surprise. He then picked Hoseok for the next one. Hoseok picked Jungkook after that, since Jin was busy with family matters, which meant that Jungkook, of course, picked Jimin to follow.
[bonus chapters will explore the dates, see the comments at the end for more info]
After those four weeks of dates, Jiyoung decided that she was ready to challenge the GED test. It was on a Saturday morning and everyone decided to go with her in support. A couple hours later, she came out.
“So how’d you do?” Jin, of course, was the first to ask.
Jiyoung hesitantly shrugged her shoulders. “I’m not sure. I either did really well or really horribly. That’s all I know.” She laughed. “But at least it’s over. How long until I find out the results?”
“A couple weeks,” Namjoon told her. He had researched a lot into the test to try to help Jiyoung as much as possible.
“I’m sure you did well,” encouraged JiEun, slinging an arm over her shoulder.
Taehyung did the same on the other side. “Yeah. You’ve been studying your ass off. I know you did well.” Jiyoung smiled.
“What’s say we get some lunch?” Hoseok suggested. He ruffled Jiyoung’s hair, laughing when she tried to squirm away.
“And then ice cream!” Jungkook yelled emphatically.
“Ice cream!!!” the other young ones shouted in agreement. With a lot of hyperactive bouncing, the group went to lunch at a nearby soup shop. Everyone enjoyed lunch and made a game out of trying to steal each other’s food (Taehyung was the most successful). At the end of lunch, just when Jin was about to suggest they leave for ice cream, Jungkook stood up.
“I—I have an a-announcement to make,” he stuttered, his eyes nervously darting over the seated people. He opened his mouth to speak, but the words caught in his throat.
JiEun laughed and stood with Jungkook. “We have an announcement to make.” She grabbed Jungkook’s hand and held it up. “We’re dating.” Silence. “Uh...Jungkook and I are dating,” she said a little less confidently.
“And?” Hoseok pressed.
“Uh...well...we were hoping...you guys would be happy for us...” Jungkook basically mumbled.
“We all know,” Namjoon told them.
“What?” the newly announced couple exclaimed together.
“Yeah, we’ve all know pretty much the whole time,” Yoongi said. “Why do you think Namjoon and I have been giving you a hard time, Kookie?” Jungkook just stared at him in disbelief.
“Yeah,” started Jiyoung, “I hate to say it, but even I knew. And I’ll admit that I’m probably the densest one here.” The others snickered, agreeing in their heads and thinking {She has no idea}.
“Well then.” JiEun sat down and pulled Jungkook down as well. “That was less fanfare than I was expecting.”
“Congratulations,” Jiyoung said, playfully bumping JiEun. “You better be nice to my little sister,” she told Jungkook.
“Yeah,” Yoongi and Namjoon said at the same time.
Jungkook laughed nervously. “Of course.” Everyone laughed. After a few more words of encouragement, they left for the ice cream shop.
The next weekend, Jin planned to take Jiyoung out for their date. Unfortunately, something suddenly happened with one of the malls and he had to work over the weekend. Both he and Jiyoung were unhappy about it. The week after that, on a Friday, an envelope containing the results of Jiyoung’s GED test came in. She wanted to wait to open the envelope until dinner, when everyone would be home. After dinner, before anyone could leave, Jiyoung pulled out the envelope.
JiEun was the first to notice. “What’s that?”
“The results of the GED test.” Everyone looked at her expectantly.
“You’re the most nervous one out of all of us,” Namjoon told her. “We all know you passed.”
Jiyoung smiled at his words. With encouraging gestures from the others, she started to open the envelope. Hoseok, who was sitting next to her, put his hand over hers to help steady her shaking hands. Yoongi and Jungkook, who were sitting next to Jimin, heard Jimin suck in a sharp breath at the intimate gesture. Jiyoung smiled gratefully at Hoseok. Hoseok removed his hand and Jiyoung continued, this time shaking less. She pulled out the single slip of paper. Jiyoung’s face was a stone mask as she read the contents. The others looked at each other.
“What’s it say?” Jin asked quietly.
Jiyoung looked at him in disbelief. Her voice barely above a whisper, she said, “Congratulations...”
“What?”
Jiyoung cleared her throat. This time, with a small smile on her face, she said, “Congratulations!”
Everyone started yelling excitedly. Taehyung was the loudest with an “I told you so”. Everyone got up from their seats to congratulate her with a hug.
Hoseok was the first. “Congratulations,” he whispered in her ear. “I knew you could do it.” His voice sent pleasant shivers down her spine. Before she could say anything back, she was pulled away by Taehyung who had been sitting on her other side. They all gave her hugs and small words of encouragement.
Jimin didn’t say anything, though. He just ran his hand affectionately along the side of her face. The loving look he gave her woke up a powerful storm of butterflies in her stomach. It settled slightly when he broke his gaze to hug her. He rested his head on her shoulder, the side of his face pressing against her neck. He wanted to see if her heart was beating as fast as his. And it was. Jimin hoped that it wasn’t just from the excitement of her news. Before he made it too obvious, he pulled away.
“What’s say we celebrate?’ Namjoon suggested, walking in with a bottle of whiskey in one hand and a bottle of vodka in the other.
Jiyoung POV
The celebration took place in the game room. I found it exceedingly hilarious to watch the guys try to play games as they became more and more drunk. I wasn’t nearly as intoxicated as the rest of them. I drank along with the others, but I didn’t want to drink too much. I knew that people tended to change when drunk and I was worried about what I might do or say. If I might accidently slip with one of the two guys. The amount of alcohol I had consumed was enough to make me behave differently already. I found myself staring at the two men who made my heart race. Several times, I caught myself staring at their lips, or watching their Adam’s apples bob while they drank, or resting my hands a little longer on their shoulders than what I usually did.
Watching my intake turned out to be a good thing because someone needed to keep the guys from destroying the equipment. At one point, I even had to go after Jungkook and JiEun who were making out intensely in the corner. I knew it was the alcohol because they almost never showed PDA and I didn’t want them to do anything they would regret in the morning.
A little while after that, I saw Jimin stumbling towards the door like he was leaving. I checked to make sure the others were okay and then followed him. He was pretty fast for a drunk guy. I left the room just barely in time to hear the door to the library close. I was a little worried about how drunk he was. There was no reason I could think of for him to go to the library. Even when sober, he barely went in there. I decided to follow to make sure he didn’t throw up everywhere or try to climb the book shelves or whatever a drunk Jimin might do.
I walked in. The library looked like a typical personal library: the walls were lined with bookshelves that stretched to the tall ceiling. It was mostly clean and neat with a few comfortable chairs resting in the corners. In the middle of the room, however, there was a large table with stacks of books. Sometimes the guys would pull out several books they needed and would leave them in the middle of the table. They’d tell the maids to not clean it up, but then they’d forget about them. Jimin was leaning against the table, flipping through one of the books on the closest stack.
“I wondered if you’d follow me,” he said, his eyes turning to me. If I didn’t know he’d been drinking, I wouldn’t have guessed he was drunk. His voice wouldn’t have given him away. But his movements would have. He pushed himself off the table and barely kept from stumbling as he made his way to me.
“What’re you doing in here, Jimin?” I asked while forcing a laugh. The look he was giving me made my stomach do flips, but I didn’t want to let him see. He stopped in front of me. Thoughts raced through my head as quickly as my heart raced. I told myself to step back, but my body refused to listen. I told myself to look away, but my eyes stared straight ahead, caught in his half-lidded gaze. I saw his eyes flicker down to my lips and he licked his own. {Jimin is going to kiss me, I have to move.} {No, you don’t you should stay and enjoy it. It’s not every day a man like him looks at a girl like you like that.} {But Hoseok—} {Is not here.} {Jimin’s drunk.} {And?}
I was broken out of my internal debate when one of his hands gripped the back of my neck and his other hand wrapped around my waist, pulling me flush against him. His lips crashed into mine and my mind went completely and absolutely blank.
Sooo....cliffhanger! Yay! Maybe not, lol. Don't hate me. So tell me, what do you think she'll do? Who are you rooting for? Hehehe. I'm evil.
Okay, so for the bonus chapters, it depends on how bad my jetlag is. If I can manage, I'll put out one a day in the same order as the story: Taehyung, Hoseok, Jungkook, then Jimin. They're short, but kinda fun. Depending on Christmas, I may or may not be able to post. Of course, with you guys, I'm sure you'll be doing your own things as well.
So, if I have time, I'll try to finish the last part and do that intensive editing that I need to do. But the next couple weeks are going to be me trying to stuff a year of America into two weeks, lol. Wish me luck. Thanks again for sticking with me.
See you next post! In case I don't get the chance, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

It needs to be JHOPE. He would be good for her and help her heal. He also isn't the womanizer Jimin is.
