BTOC (basic tactical operations course) training is approaching...I've been waiting a whole month now, and I'm pumped! Yeah, it means physical training, sharing a dorm room with 5 other people, getting up before the buttcrack of dawn, using guns (which make me unbelievably nervous), and getting pepper sprayed just before running a gauntlet...but it'll totally be worth it to become a certified officer! One week from now, I will be packing up and getting ready to leave my kids behind for a month and a week. That's going to be a thousand times harder than having my eyes incinerated. I think I can remind myself that I'm doing it for them and push through the separation anxiety. And hope that they understand that it's for them that I do this.
