Muscle weighs more than fat, but takes up less room in the body.

That means that at person who weighs 140lbs of mostly muscle, will be thinner than a person who weighs 120lbs of mostly fat. Plus, muscle mass is incredibly important for many other things like your metabolism and, obviously, body strength!
