This week's theme in the K-Drama community is "Historical" therefore I will be informing everyone about my top 5 historical dramas that I have seen. I have also see "You Who Came From The Stars" but it has barely any historical elements. So I don't really count it as historical. Also I have only seen these 5 historical dramas. I'm not a big historical drama fan so I haven't seen many, I am open to try some if they will keep me entertained and won't drag. That being said I'll jump right to it!

5. Faith (Source: DramaWiki)

PLOT:

This drama shows the romance between a warrior from the ancient times and a female doctor from the modern times, their love transcending time and space. It will also tell the story about the process of making a true king. Yoo Eun Soo (Kim Hee Sun) is a 33-year old plastic surgeon in the year 2012. She was originally a general surgeon, but quickly found that it was an overworked, under-paid profession and jumped ship to plastic surgery. Her dream is to someday open her own practice. One day, Choi Young (Lee Min Ho) kidnaps her and takes her back to the Goryeo era, requesting that she use her medical skills to save the life of the Queen. Their ensuing love story is a long journey of faith that spans centuries and transforms them both, as Eun Soo finds true purpose in her medical knowledge for the first time while Young is inspired to live again through Eun Soo's determination, indefatigable cheerfulness and love of life.

MY THOUGHTS?

Faith was a good drama from the very beginning but then after a few episodes, I started to get bored and it felt like it was dragging for so long. I kind of forced myself to finish because I wanted to know how it would end. I mostly wanted to watch this drama because of Lee Min Ho and I've seen all of his other popular dramas. I wasn't disappointed with the cast or the characters but more upset with the story. It fell short for me. I know "Faith" is popular but I wasn't the biggest fan of it. I had to put it on this list though because it's one of the only historical dramas I've seen. I would recommend it if you like Lee Min Ho and you don't get bored easily plus some romance. But I didn't enjoy Faith that much, plus the ending was ehh.. RATE: I give this drama a 7.5 out of 10. If you like historical, romance, time-travel dramas then give it a try.

4. Moonlight Drawn By Clouds

(Source: DramaWiki)

PLOT:

Hong Ra On (Kim Yoo Jung), disguises herself as a man and counsels men on dating. Due to a love letter she wrote for a client, she meets Lee Yeong---future Crown Prince Hyomyeong (Park Bo Gum). Hong Ra On is unaware that he is the Crown Prince and Lee Yeong is unaware that Hong Ra On is a woman. The Crown Prince becomes interested in Hong Ra On. His eunuchs become aware of this and attempt to get Hong Ra On to become one of them.

MY THOUGHTS?

I enjoyed this drama! It was entertaining which historical dramas need to be or else they won't keep the attention of the viewers unless they are into history. But I for one am not very fond of history. I prefer the action when it comes to historical dramas. I LOVE GENDER BENDER DRAMAS!!! This was a cute drama and had it's funny moments. It was definitely a fun ride with some emotional moments. I applaud both Bo-Gum and Yoo Jung on their acting, they did amazing plus they had good chemistry together. Good plot, I love the Crown Prince's body guard. He's so hot and I quickly fell in love with him. He was definitely my favorite character. <3 Bo-Gum is cute too! RATE: I give this drama a solid 8/10. If you enjoy romance, historical and gender bender than give this a try!

3. Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo

(Source: Wiki)

PLOT:

During a total solar eclipse, a 25-year-old 21st century woman, Go Ha-jin (Lee Ji-eun), is transported back in time to Goryeo Dynasty. She wakes up in the year 941, in the body of Hae Soo and there, she encounters the many royal princes of the ruling Wang family. She initially falls in love with the gentle and warm 8th Prince Wang Wook (Kang Ha-neul), and later Wang So (Lee Joon-gi), the fearsome 4th Prince who hides his face behind a mask and is given the derogatory label "wolf dog". Meanwhile, rivalry and politics ensue among the princes, in a fight for the throne, as Hae Soo finds herself unwittingly caught between it all.

MY THOUGHTS?

I loved this drama from the start and knew it was gonna keep me on edge. It started off confusing then got more confusing and then I started to understand what was really going on. It has a great storyline. I love Wang So in his mask. I thought he looked hotter and more mysterious with the mask. This drama was funny in the beginning then made a depressing turn but it was still a good drama that made me and many others want more especially because of the ending. I love the soundtrack and the cast is amazing. I didn't like Ha-neul's character, I hated him actually. A LOT! I fell for Wang So pretty quickly. He's just so handsome and dark. What would make this drama better would be if it got another season or a wrap up episode or two. We Scarlet Heart fans need some closure. PLEASE!!! Also there was some great chemistry between IU and Joon-ki. They make a beautiful couple and made me laugh and cry. I cried from the very LAST scene in this drama. It was a great drama. For those who think they want to stop watching. DON'T! It's a really good drama that you can't stop. RATE: I give Scarlet Heart an 8.5/10. If you like to cry, love romance and love historical. This drama is for YOU!

2. Rooftop Prince (Source: DramaWiki)

PLOT:

When Crown Prince Lee Gak (Micky Yoochun) is transported 300 years into the future to present day Seoul along with his three retainers, they believe that it is their duty to solve the murder case of the Crown Princess in order to return to Joseon. They land in the rooftop apartment of Park Ha (Han Ji Min), a cheerful woman in her mid-20s, who eventually believes the odd quartet's predicament and becomes their guardian. As Park Ha educates the four on life in the 21st century, Lee Gak comes across Hong Se Na (Jung Yoo Mi), who seems to be the reincarnation of his wife. Taking on the identity of Yong Tae Yong, Lee Gak slowly begins to unravel the murder of Yong Tae Yong and in turn moves closer to solving the murder case of the Crown Princess. As he finds himself in love with Park Ha, he figures that maybe the Crown Princess was not as he expected after all...

MY THOUGHTS?

I really loved this drama. Rooftop Prince is more of a time-travel, historical drama. I would say it's probably the funniest if not the 2nd most funniest Korean drama I've ever seen. It's so funny watching these 4 strange guys from the historical time period be so lost and surprised when seeing new technology in present time. Like thinking an elevator is some sort of dressing room and breaking things that talk to them like a rice-cooker. XD This drama has good plot twists and bounces back and forth between present and past. Trying to figure out the mystery behind the Crown Prince's wife's death. Fun cast, great chemistry and interesting plot. It did have it's down's but all in all. It was a fun ride although the ending was disappointing it was still a really great drama! This is one that all kdrama fans need to watch if they haven't because it's so entertaining and will keep you hooked! RATE: I definitely give Rooftop Prince a 9/10. If you love romance, time-travel, comedy and historical dramas then try Rooftop Prince. You won't be disappointed!

1. Queen In Hyun's Man (Source: Wiki)

PLOT:

Year 1694, Joseon Dynasty: Kim Bung-do (Ji Hyun-woo) is a noble-born scholar and his family's sole survivor after they were massacred in a conspiracy. Kim Bung-do supports the reinstatement of Queen In-hyun, who was deposed due to scheming by royal concubine Lady Jang. Year 2012, modern-day Seoul: Choi Hee-jin (Yoo In-na), an unsuccessful actress, lands her big break when she is cast as Queen In-hyun in the television drama "New Jang Heebin". Due to a mysterious talisman, Kim Bung-do time travels to 2012, where he crosses paths with Choi Hee-jin and falls in love.

MY THOUGHTS?

So I actually got distracted at one point and stopped watching this drama at episode 12. I did enjoy it but other dramas captured my attention. But I eventually got back into it and fell back in love with it. First off. The CHEMISTRY!! I love this pair so much. It's like they were made for each other. Great kisses, great plot, great cast and good soundtrack. I absolutely love this drama. This is another time-travel, historical, romance drama like Rooftop Prince but I loved it so much more. Queen In Hyun's Man is so sweet like candy but also had it's emotional moments as well. I cried so much from this drama but it was so GOOD! I got so connected to the main leads, emotionally that I couldn't help but cry with them. This drama also showed how amazing Yoo In-na is when acting, she definitely has talent. I wish she had more main lead roles. I love the fact that the main leads actually dated in real life too after this drama. They are so cute, sadly they broke up. Anyway, I loved everything about this drama. Even the ending was amazing, I was crying near the end but then I couldn't stop smiling. It's so good. RATE: It's a 10/10 drama for me! If you love time-travel, romance, historical dramas that are really cute then try Queen In Hyun's Man!
There's my list of my favorite historical dramas! Queen In Hyun's Man is my fav!
