Obviously our brains are important, but its often confusing how to take care of them.
Here is a simple at-home treatment you can do to get toxins out of your brain. This is an Ayurvedic practice called Nasya, but if you don't want to buy oils (which I don't right now haha! Saving money^^) you can simply do the first step of steaming!
While the full procedure requires certain oils, the first step is something you can easily do in your home by yourself. Especially if you have Vicks Vapor Rub, which my house always has :)
Step 1. Head, Neck and Shoulder Massage with Nasal Preparation
1. Vigorously massage the head and neck for five minutes (if you have an oil you like, like tea tree or peppermint, try massaging with that if you'd like!)
2. Take a hot shower and continue to vigorously massage the head and neck.
3. Steam and face and neck: Fill a large bowl with freshly boiled water. Add 1-2 drops of eucalyptus oil or Vicks VapoRub. Take a clean, large towel and drape it over the head to make a tent. Lean over the bowl so that the steam is trapped inside the towel tent. Inhale the steam for two to three minutes.
4. Gently apply hot towels to the neck and face. If available, I prefer to use hot water bottles and press them on the sinuses under the cheek bones, forehead, temples (side of head) and then track the top of the head in a Mohawk pattern.
So what does this do?
This helps the lymphatic system in the brain drain, along with your sinuses. The steam and massage (plus all that heat) will get the blood really pumping in your neck and head, which will help push a lot of toxins out. These toxins in your brain have been linked to depression, anxiety, and even forgetfulness!
Even if you don't have oils, the massaging and steaming is proven to do wonders for your health and get's a ton of toxins out of your body :)
