He happen to look over and seen his hyung staring intently at him. His hyung's eyes moving down to his hand holding someone else's hand. His hyung's jaw shifted in disbelief. When their eyes made contact again, his hyung looked out into the crowd. So he looked out into the crowd as well. All he saw was his noona bolting out the door with her friend following close behind her.
Quickly, he released the girls hand. The girl noticed and even heard him curse under his breath. She seen his jaw clench and moved away from him, inching closer to the mouthy one making jokes. It frightened her seeing him get angry all of a sudden.
He wanted to go after her but couldn't. Things had been quiet between them for weeks. It scared him to think that he was losing her. He didn't know how to make it better. He missed her, he missed so much. The only time he felt everything was okay was when they spoke which wasn't much but it made him feel better when she answered his calls. When they were together, lying in bed, when he was holding her, he wanted to stay there with her but he couldn't. The manager, the manager was watching him closely. He hated it. He didn't want anything to happen to her.
When they got a break, he tried to call and for the first time, she didn't answer but he kept trying. His stomach twisted into knots. He threw his phone against the wall. It broke apart, the screen shattering into a million pieces on the floor. He picked the pieces up. His mind started to race with what she might be thinking, that stupid girl flirting with him in front of everyone, he slammed his fist into the stall door.
“Hey! What's going on in here?” Someone asked coming in the restroom.
He recognized the voice, it was his leader, his roommate.
“Hyung… can I use your phone?” he asked from inside the bathroom stall.
“What's wrong with your phone?” His hyung asked.
“I kinda broke it.”
His hyung chuckled, “Then I shouldn't give you mine if you broke yours…”
“Please hyung.” He begged from the other side of the stall door. He looked up when he heard a tapping sound above him. He took the phone.
“Hurry up, little brother, five more minutes. I'll try to stall them.”
He heard the restroom door open and close.
He dialed her number but she didn't answer. So he left a voice message.
“Noona… don't be mad… it was nothing… just a stupid girl trying to be cute… please don't be mad.” The knot in his throat tightened but he managed to whisper it, “I love you.”
He clenched the phone tightly that it made a creaking sound. He swung the stall door open and stomped out. When he got back into the studio, the photographers were pairing them up. Him and that girl got paired together.
The photographer kept telling him to get closer, look comfortable but he couldn't, he didn't want to. The girl took a deep breath and with a smile, grabbed him around the waist and pulled him closer, then rested her chin on his shoulder. He tried to smile naturally but looked too nervous. The manager called for quick break. He pulled his young ward to the side, his tight grip not letting go until they were alone.
“What's wrong with you?” The manager asked keeping his agitated tone low.
The manager was annoyed from hearing that, that word he's always saying, “bull. shit. You need to remember this is your job and when you're on the job, you're on company time, you do whatever they tell you to do. if that photographer wants you to get cozy with that pretty young singer, then you get cozy…”
“I don't like her.”
“I. dont. care….” His manager stood back, “you're still seeing that woman, aren't you? After I told you to stop… this is why, it's interfering with your work. What happen, did you and her get into a fight?”
He rolled his eyes, “what I do on my own time is none of your business… and I'm going to keep seeing her no matter what.” He said sounding a bit bratty and annoyed himself.
“Fine, but get over there and do your job” the manager shoved him a little.
He took a sip of water, looked around as he walked back to the set. He seen her friend standing next to that singer, fixing her make-up but he didn't see his noona anywhere. He sat down in the chair they set out for him to pose in. He watched noona's friend, she looked down at him and then snapped her eyes away. He chuckled at her actions.
“Where's noona at?” He asked guessing that she must know about them.
Without looking at him, she answered quickly, “She left for the day, she didn't say where she was going. She just ran off.”
The young singer looked at him, listening to their conversation.
“Tell her she shouldn't do that, she'll lose her job.” He said looking down at the ground.
“Is that all you want me to tell her?”
He smirked, “Tell her… to get her ass back here.”
The young singer gazed at him for a long time. It was coming clear to her, the rumors she had heard were true.
