The video-sharing website YouTube held its first wards show today, called the YouTube Music Awards. Meant to honor and celebrate the hottest and most viral music videos from all over the world on Youtube, the website awarded artists, videos, and YouTube stars through six categories: Breakthrough of the Year, Response of the Year, Innovation of the Year, YouTube Phenomenon, Video of the Year, and Artist of the Year. K-Pop stars were on the list of nominees; Girls’ Generation‘s “I Got a Boy” music video was up for the Video of the Year, and PSY was in several categories. His “Gangnam Style” was a nominee for YouTube Phenomenon, “Gentleman” was up for the Video of the Year, and PSY himself was up for the Artist of the Year. Girls’ Generation took home the award for Video of the Year, going against Demi Lovato, Epic Rap Battles of History, Justin Bieber, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Miley Cyrus, One Direction, PSY, and Selena Gomez. Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany was present at the live awards show in New York to receive the award, and the idol star couldn’t hide her happiness as she expressed her love for the fans, YouTube, and her members (who couldn’t be there with her).
