He called like clockwork. His voice back to that monotone, asking if she was okay, if she was feeling better, if she was getting enough bed rest. She hated it. It made her mad. She didn't want to tell him what had happened but seeing him face to face, she couldn't lie to him. Now she wasn't sure if he was mad because of what happened to her or if it was because… Her mind kept going back to the other night.
Two nights ago…
She wanted to run to him but she was hurting so bad she barely walked to him. She desperately wanted to be with him. When he swept her up into his arms, she felt everything melt away. But when he hugged her, it caused her pain and she couldn't hide it but she also didn't want him to let go.
“What's wrong?” He asked stepping back when she groaned.
She looked to the others, “My friend is in the car. Can you keep her company for a few minutes?”
The eldest grabbed his dongsaeng and headed for the car. Her dark god stared at her as he walked past her. She just smiled at him. Once they were gone, they walked over too, keeping his arms around her. She snuggled into his body, holding him close as they went. He leaned her against the car, still keeping his arms around her.
“What's wrong?” He asked again.
“Baby…” she looked up at his face and knew she couldn't keep it from him. “I’d been hurting pretty bad ever since that fight with the manager. I had to go to the hospital.”
“What?! Why were you there, what happened?” He paced a little in front of her, “I worried like crazy and now I was right to worry. Hyung said it was nothing, not to worry but I did. What did he do, did come after you again? That son of bitch, I'm going to get him, I swear!”
She grabbed him and kissed him.
“Baby…” she says softly, she gulped, her heart pounding hard, her friend was right, he needed to know, “I'm pregnant.” He went limp, his face turning even more paler, he drifted to the side of her.
His little round lips dropping open in disbelief, “I don't know what to say.” He grabbed his chest, “I want to be happy but it seems kind of a bad time. Wait…” he jumped in front of her, he looked down at her tummy, “Is that why you were in the hospital?”
“No, I went because it was hurting really bad. What he did…” she was ready to explain but he interrupted her.
“How long have you known?” He said giving her a suspicious look.
She narrowed her eyes seeing that look, “I just found out while I was at the hospital. I didn't know until then, so stop looking at me like that. I wasn't hiding it from you.”
“What are we going to do?” He said quietly. “I'm not ready for this.”
“Yeah, well, neither am I.”
They stared at each other for a long time. Noona reached over and knocked on the window. She had only wanted to see him before he left but this happened instead.
Today he would be back and she's sure he'll want to discuss their future, about what to do with this child. She hasn't given it much thought this whole entire time since finding out. She didn't want to be selfish but the more she thought about it, she thought it wouldn't be too bad, she supposed. If she had to go at it by herself, she could do it. He would need to be okay with her taking the baby on her own, she wouldn't ask him for anything. She would disappear into the world. Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, or even a small town in the mountains of the western United States.
“God… what am I thinking” she thought to herself.
“So what happened the other night? He looked mad” her friend asked.
“Oh, you know… the minute I looked into his face, I couldn't keep it to myself.”
“So you told him? GOOD! He needs to know.” Her friend says bringing her a cup.
“I feel so cooped up here. Let's go for a walk, please?” noona begged.
Her friend shook her head, “Nope, my oppa said to make sure you stay out of sight AND to stay in bed.”
Noona laughed, “My oppa…” she repeated giggling at the sound of it, “Just cute. Does HE know you like him?”
Her friend smiled a bit and then frowned, “I don't think so. But I think he might be in a relationship already.”
“Oh? What makes you think that?”
Her friend shrugged and sipped her tea. Noona pressed her. She sat quietly for a minute, then she told her.
“When we was pulling that girls background, he got a phone call. He sounded like he was talking to his girlfriend. They talked about meeting up later that night for dinner and going to a movie or something afterwards. He talked to her for a long time, like he really cared about her and wanted to make sure she was okay.” Her friend looked out the window in a dreamy state and sighed, “I wish my last boyfriend had been so caring.”
Noona listened carefully. She wasn't aware that the eldest was seeing anyone. The last time she spoke to him, he seemed focused on his studies.
“I didn't know he was dating. Were you wanting to get to know him?” She asked her friend.
Her friend swirled her cup, thinking about it and then nodded, “I do. But I have no intentions of stealing him away from his girlfriend. I think she's lucky to have him and she must be so nice to have gotten his attention like that.”
Noona smirked, her smile curling up thinking about what she had seen. The way he was smiling at her friend and gazing like he was interested. “Then why was he smiling at you.” she said quietly.
Her friend looked at her, “Excuse me?”
Noona shook her head, “Nothing… chingu, please, let's go out for a walk. I need fresh air.”
Her friend thought about it long and hard, “okay but you have to do what I say. Understand?”
