Road cyclist often don't use kickstands, and for very good reasons at that. First of all, most modern road bikes have no kickstand holder. This hasn't always bothered cyclist much because kickstands are generally ugly and heavy. Cyclist take pride in sheering mere fractions of a pound of weight off their bike. The most modern frames weigh around 1000 grams, about the weight of a kickstand.
Obviously there are reasons not to want a kickstand, but in reality they are very practical. I can't remember a ride that I didn't stop and lean my bike up against a post, wall, or car. Kickstands are simply practical when we aren't using our bike.
A carbon fiber kickstand, that easily detaches from your bike, and fits easily into your pocket is a perfect tool for the serious cyclist.
