Uh, Can iKon Get In Trouble For This?

I know in America it won't be a big deal, but Korea is known for being CRAZY strict on drug laws...

So I just watched iKon's new MV and something popped out at me. I know it isn't a big deal in the States to show or allude to drug use, but in Korea MVs have been banned for even pretending to have alcohol so I worry.

I also thought it was HELLA clever and got a good laugh out of it though (just hope it doesnt come back to bite them!)

Basically, there is a scene where they are making a popular traditional Korean snack that is basically just burnt sugar. But the way they are making it, and the way they set the scene it looks an awwwwwwwful lot like cocaine (the sugar) and that they're melting a drug to inject it (you can do this with heroin or really any drug)

You might think 'no no they didnt mean that' but i mean, it looks pretty intentional - and again they could (and probably were) just doing this to be funny cause the contrast between cocaine and this traditional cookie IS pretty hilarious.

I just hope the Korean broadcasting service doesnt see it and get pissed, hopefully they wont get the reference ;)

It starts at 2:19:

Is it just me? Just the fact that I don't often think about drugs but thats immediately what came to mind when I saw that scene is what makes me worried for them :/

I already sent this to @XxGummybear92xX but: Consider the amount of thought and work that goes into an MV. If you're an iKon fan you know these guys are artists, and not willing to fit the typical 'idol' stereotypes. They have every right and reason to allude to drugs in their MV and there is nothing wrong with that, and tbh they probably did it on purpose. To just say we shouldnt discuss the mv to not create drama is probably the last thing they want and is a waste of the director's efforts. iKon and YG are very smart and they know what they're doing, let's not simplify their message. Also - the point of an MV/art is to discuss and question not just consume it without thought. We owe it to the artist behind it to critique it (and not just dreamy theories like what we all love reading about BTS etc) so really, cheers to the people who saw the allusion and saw the humor in it (which is probs what they wanted)

They are 100% making the traditional candy. I've seen them make it on RunningMan a few times. Enough drama, okay? OKAY!

To anyone thinking I am "Attacking" @kpopandkimchi When I simply stated my opinion, which is exactly what she did. Also the fact I did write her PRIVATELY to talk about this. But when someone's opinion doesn't fit with the others they are automatically attacking someone? I was simply saying That I wanted ikon to have a drama free come back then all the sudden I'm attacking someone, and now a crappie Kpop fan for having different opinions? You say this community is open minded and accepting, but why when someone disagrees with someone else's opinion and try to talk about it they instantly are attacking someone? I only wanted to discuss this. Which is why I wrote you because you said I could always write you if I wanted to talk about it, then you post it public? I'm sorry for any misunderstandings because of this, but why am I suddenly the bad guy for stating my opinion?

i thought i expressed my thoughts better in the message i sent to you so i reposted it here and made it clear i reposted it, thats all. and im not saying i was attacked but telling someone not to share their opinion is my issue. you're 100% allowed to share your opinion and we can talk about it, but telling me i shouldnt post certain things is what i have a problem with. i wrote this card to get people's opinions and talk about it - hence why the title is a question :)

Looking at the comments I dont think anyone was hating, I think other people got the joke. I don't know why people have this idea that Vinglers are the type to immediately hate a group from hearing one not-so-pretty thing about them. I'm really proud that this community has always been open and accepting but recently it seems like people have lost faith in their fellow Vinglers' ability to critique and question things. The vingle fam I know wouldn't hate a group over something silly like this, that's literally the reason i stay on Vingle is so I dont have to deal with any crappy kpop fans who would react like that. this is a safe place online for kpop fans to be mature about the fandom and think critically not just like mindless consumers. i dont know why so many people are on edge all of a sudden, but i still have faith on the fam.

That's how you make the candy. No one would take it that way
