Michio Hoshino, a photographer known for his pictures of bears and other wildlife, was mauled to death by a brown bear on the Kamchatka Peninsula in eastern Russia. He was in his mid-40′s and lived in Fairbanks, Alaska. This was the last photo he took. *** Apparently this was not the last picture taken by Mr. Michio Hoshino. Although, he was mauled to death by a brown bear while on assignment in Kurilskoye Lake, Russia in 1996
Also, I'm writing a research paper about the bear cult of Northeast Asia and how the bear was worshiped by various ethnic tribes in paleolithic-neolithic times, and even today is still a part of cultural traditions in the region. I wonder if these men's obsession with the animal has anything to do with its place in indigenous religion
Oh my gosh! This is terrifying, and the fact that it was the last photo he ever took... terrible. Have you heard of Timothy Treadwell? He was the main character in a famous documentary called "Grizzly Man"--he too spent most of his time in Alaska living with bears. He too was killed.... =/
