I'm currently writing a card on Greek Mythology in Kpop, but thought I'd break it up into separate cards since I want to go into more detail :)

For those of you who don't know the story of Icarus, here's a summary:

Daedalus was a master inventor who was imprisoned by King Minos in Crete. In order to escape, Daedalus fashioned two pairs of wings out of wax and feathers for himself and his son. Daedalus tried his wings first, but before trying to escape the island, he warned his son not to fly too close to the sun, nor too close to the sea, but to follow his path of flight.

Overcome by the giddiness that flying lent him, Icarus soared into the sky, but in the process he came too close to the sun, which due to the heat melted the wax. Icarus kept flapping his wings but soon realized that he had no feathers left and that he was only flapping his bare arms, and so Icarus fell into the sea.
Take care,’ said Daedalus. ‘To fly a middle course, lest if you sink Too low the waves may weight your feathers; if Too high, the heat may burn them. Fly half-way Between the two.’
This is often used as a warning for people to not become too much of anything. Think of the celebrities that become too famous (too close to the sun) then crash and burn. You should stay in the middle ground, stay humble.

There was SO much symbolism in Blood Sweat and Tears, but this isn't one piece I hear a lot of people talking about, but its my favorite!

In Blood Sweat and Tears we see Herbert Draper’s The Lament of Icarus behind him as Jungkook seems to fly through the air. This painting is of Icarus after the fall, he is dead.

Next we see V with Icarus as well:

As V jumps off the balcony with a smile, the 'Landscape with the Fall of Icarus' in the background.

And of course we can't forget V and his wings, or Jin and the statue that could be Icarus...

I think this is a great song for BTS at this moment in time, where they are suddenly blowing up on an international level. The boys want to remain level headed, but they are drifting closer and closer to the sun.

What do you think?

GASP!!!! I've read something like this before !!!!!!! SO crazy!!!! 😱😱
Blood, Sweat & Tears has soooo much mythological meaning behind it I doubt we will ever see all it has to offer without the boys themselves explaining it to us. I did notice this theory when I watched the MV along with others, look at all the paintings in the different scenes and the meanings behind the things the boys act out and you will see what I mean :)
Or... are they each trying to escape their own individual "prisons", but are risking either falling to low or soaring too high
