Korean Slang: WTH Does "Dog Funny" Mean?

Just like any language, Korean has some pretty weird ways of putting emphasis on something.

More recently, the popular way to add emphasis (instead of saying "really funny" or "too funny") is to use the word 개 (gae)

What does 개 mean?

Dog. Literally just dog.

You know how we might say something is hella expensive or mad funny. Well, in Korea you would say dog expensive, dog funny ;)

For example:

웃겨 - funny (oot-kyeo)

개웃겨 - really funny (gae oot-kyeo)

개웃기다 - really funny (gae oot-ki-da) <-- just a different way of saying it :)

더워 - hot (used for weather) (deo-weo)

개더워 - super hot (gae deo-weo)

개덥다 - super hot (gae deop-da) <-- just a different way of saying it :)

Remember, this is slang so try to use it only with people you are comfortable with and not with any elders or strangers!

I'm trying to start up my korean slang/language posts again so let me know if you want to be tagged!

@kpopandkimchi I think its more closely related to how we use the fword lol Since Dog is used as a cursein some ways, just like if we want to put emphasis we will do that as well. They are just using a less crude word ㅋㅋ
