Actor Steps Down From "Whitewashing" Role

I'm going to be honest, I don't know much about Hellboy.

What I've learned recently is there is a character named Major Ben Daimio, who was going to be played by Ed Skrein in the upcoming revamp.
The only problem is (which apparently Skrein didn't know either) is that Major Ben Daimio is technically of mix-raced (Japanese and white) and there was a huge call for him to be played by a more appropriate actor.

Well, unlike Matt Damon or Scarlett Johansson, Shrein listened and posted this:

Now he's being praised for making the push and setting an example for other actors to step down from roles in order to give other actors (especially under represented groups!!!) a chance act in their appropriate role.

If you'd like to see Skrein really act, you can always catch him in Deadpool, or his next project whatever that may be!

kudos to skrein for being a moral guy
or stick from daredevil? or Ben urich. or...
like Nick fury?
I mean as long as they play the role well I dont think it really matters. What if the white guy just did a better job of playing This role are you gonna Just be like nope sorry the character isn't white we'll go with someone who's not as good at the role but fits the characters race?
if they look hard enough they can find the perfect person to play the part, in the race it was written
@DarrenRouton but you don't always have that time and what if you just can't find a better actor than the white just cause they white you think they should settle for someone who doesn't play the role as well but at least matches the characters race
Yes. Because race plays an important part in a character's background. I mean, would you have a great white actor play Martin Luther King or Malcolm X? Just for the record I think stick should have been Asian.
Well he stepped down from the job so it's all good now

'Train to Busan' as Critique of Korean Society
I still haven't been able to see Train to Busan for myself, but I found this article on NPR to be really interesting! It doesn't ruin any plot points (other than the fact that there is a zombie apocalypse which I'm pretty sure we could gather from the trailer...) According to the article: Without giving too much of the story away, the film blames corporate callousness for the death toll. The government covers up the truth — or is largely absent. And the crew? Rather than rescue passengers, it follows the wishes of a businessman. Sewol Ferry Reference: These themes are particularly resonant in South Korea, which in 2014 faced national tragedy after 300 people, mostly teenagers, died when a ferry overturned in the sea. Investigators found the ferry's corporate owners overloaded it to save money. And the captain and crew got into lifeboats without rescuing passengers. News media, toeing the government line, originally reported that everyone survived, blamed rescuers for not working hard enough (when in reality the government refused to let them go into the water and rescue the children), etc. The Korean president's whereabouts on that day are still unexplained. Then the MERS Outbreak: Last year, as Middle East respiratory syndrome, or MERS, spread in South Korea, the government wouldn't share key information about where patients were being treated, where it started, and how officials would contain the outbreak. The government refused to communicate with the public, so the Seoul mayor had to go against the president and form his OWN plan to fix the problem. As a result, he's now in the running for next president (since Koreans have lost all respect or trust in the current pres) You can read the full piece by NPR right HERE. Has anyone seen this yet?!
