With World Tour, 2NE1 Going Where No Girl Group Has Been Before
2NE1 become the first Korean girl group to have a world tour, during which they plan to perform in 10 cities in seven countries, their agency YG Entertainment said on Wednesday.
They will kick off their "New Evolution" world tour at the Olympic Park Gymnastic Stadium in Seoul from July 28 to 29 before moving on to other countries in Asia, the Americas and Europe.
"Several boy bands, like Big Bang and Super Junior, have already staged world tours, but this will be the first time for a Korean girl group to do so," the agency said. "As 2NE1 is especially popular among female fans, we’re sure the tour will be successful."
2NE1 were selected as the Best New Band by MTV Iggy, one of MTV's music networks, last year, and also chosen as the favorite girl group by French fans of the Korean Wave in an online poll. World-famous entertainment agency Live Nation, which is currently working on Big Bang's world tour, will manage the tour.
