Recently someone asked me if I have had any creepy experiences here in Korea, and I definitely have.


In the video below I shared a few stories that happened while I was studying abroad that can't be explained to this day. I also share a few real-life creepy instances like how I had a scary man lurking outside my door last week.

I do, I really love paranormal stuff too and I also do tarot cards. So when I was in middle school I had a ouiji board (which I later learned you should actually not mess around with) and my mom ran an animal shelter through our house for exotic pets. We had a hedgehog and it's enclosure was high on a shelf and one day my mom went downstairs and found the enclosure destroyed on the ground on the other side of the room. It looked as if someone took it and full force threw it all the way across the room against the wall. It was one of those plastic ones that you put like guinea pigs in and the plastic bottom split and broke and the bars were bent and destroyed. We couldn't find the hedgehog at first but we set out food and I found it a week later completely fine just walking up to where we set the food out. We got rid of the ouiji board after that and nothing that crazy ever happened again. Also too, before this whole thing happened my mom said everything she went in that room she felt something was "off" and swore she heard a man's voice shout "get out" at her.

Something really uplifting happened this weekend in the midst of all the hatred and bloodshed. In Korea, a very conservative and Christian nation, there is huge opposition to LGBT rights. Every year, the Pride Festival is met with violent protestors and often is even shut down or ruined by the government itself. This year, mothers and fathers of young Koreans who identify as LGBT came out to the Pride celebration to embrace other young Koreans. Some how have been thrown out of their homes because of their sexual orientation, some who will never feel a parent's loving embrace again. The video is really positive, and I hope it gives you all some hope during this dark time.

Kpop, Korean Food, and Gangwon-Do
A little over a year ago, I was on a bus to Eastern Korea. I had never been to Gangwon-do, and only knew that that is where the winter Olympics would be held in 2018. My friend was visiting Korea and wanted to see at least ONE kpop performance while she was here, so my best friend and I found free tickets to a concert about 3 hours outside of Seoul. We took the bus through fields of golden rice (the rice changes colors in fall and its gorgeous) and stopped at a rest stop to get AMAZING cheese and sweet potato ddeokbokki. Eventually, we made it to the ski resort where the concert was being held. It was a great show! We saw tons of groups including BTS, SHINee, GOT7, EXID, VIXX, CLC and more! I'm so glad my friend got to see all these groups and I'm extra glad that I was able to experience how great Gangwon-do is :)

What a $420/Month Apartment in Seoul Looks Like!
About a month ago I showed you guys my empty sad looking apartment (watch it here) But now I have finally moved in!!! My apartment is in Gangnam and costs me about $420 per month, including my water bill. I still have to pay wifi, gas, and electric but that is pretty cheap :) Let me know what you think! In case you're thinking of moving to Korea one day, you can definitely find cheaper apartments. I just prefer to live close to my office which is in an expensive area (Gangnam) but areas near universities like Hongdae or Sinchon can be much cheaper!
