Gustaf Håkansson (age 66) won a 1,000-mile bicycle race, in 1951!
In 1951, Gustaf Håkansson signed up for an endurance bike race in Sweden at 66 years of age. Gustaf rode his bicycle 600 miles to get to the starting line with his roadster complete with mudguards, a headlamp (which is what eventually helped him emerge victorious) and panniers. Five days, five hours and 1,000 miles later, Gustaf won the race. This story is really unbelievable, click on the article to get all the deets!

And then he set off the 1600 miles back home again lol, or if it spanned all of Sweden and he rode 600 miles then one can estimate he lived 400 miles from the finish line? Either way, that man was obviously well conditioned.
