Sasori, known as Sasori of the Red Sand, was an S-rank missing-nin from Sunagakure's Puppet Brigade and a member of Akatsuki, where he was partnered with Orochimaru and later, Deidara. Sasori's story, like many Naruto characters, is one of orphanage due to war. His parents were killed in battle by Kakashi's father, Sakumo Hatake, the Leaf's White Fang. While still only 5, he was then raised by his grandmother, Chiyo. Chiyo, who was a master puppeteer, taught young Sasori the art of puppets. Sasori developed such skill with puppets in combat that he nicknamed Sasori of the Red Sand (bc of all the blood his puppets spilled). Sasori eventually defected from his village after starting to develop puppets from humans. One of his favorite puppets, in fact, was a puppet he made from the real body of the Third Kazekage, who went MIA at some point. He joined the Akatsuki, and was first paired with Orochimaru (who betrayed the organization and deserted), and then with Deidara. Sasori and Deidara eventually succeeded in capturing the One Tail and extract it from Gaara's body. It was at this point that Sasori came to face off against Sakura and Chiyo, his grandmother. While Sasori proved too strong for both Sakura and Chiyo, he seemingly chose to die rather than block the attack that ultimately killed him. The reason was never stated. Like many of the "evil" characters in Naruto, Sasori presents a grey area in that he was not completely evil. He seems to grown misconceived ideas about life and death due to his strong desire to bring his parents back to life. Even in his death, he dies in the "embrace of his parents."
