Australian skipper Ian Sloan boldly entered 15-foot seas across the Southport Barway in Queensland after he and his crew grew impatient waiting for the swell to die down.
Instead of waiting, they decided to surf the 46-foot catamaran down the face of what could have been a very expensive (and perhaps life-threatening) wave.
“It’s just about 9 AM and I just had a beer,” he said. “I never do that. I needed it this morning, though.”
