The 3 Countries Where Adele Isn't No.1
To tell you they're sorry for breaking your heart, Adele. WHAT!? Adele didn't achieve world domination. She may be the biggest star in ALMOST every country in the world however three countries seem to disagree. They're too preoccupied with their own music tastes and Adele just isn't one of them. In 29 international markets, Adele managed to rank No.1 in 26 of them which is basically unheard of. She's the No.1 artist in 110 countries on iTunes worldwide except for three. '3' really isn't a magic number for this pop star. Despite her record breaking album '25' : 3 million copies of the album sold in the first week of American sales alone, being the biggest-selling album released since 2011, the most sold album yearly since 2004, and broke records in how quickly her European and North American tours sold out, Adele pretty much wins...99% of the time. Thanks to Fusion.com, data was collected to show that these countries have different chart toppers and their fans wouldn't want it any other way. These countries have another preference... South Korea Why they don't prefer Adele? KPOP! Its the Korean Pop sensation that seems to dominate the music tastes of the country. The singers are hot. The music makes you want to start dancing. The music videos are strangely mesmerizing. And you've never had a party without wanting to scream at the top of your lungs to the clever lyrics that most Americans don't understand (aka Gangnam Style anyone?). Also, one must take into consideration that Koreans chart differently than most other Western countries. They have : domestic album sales, international sales, and a synthesized chart. Fusion.com found that Adele may be winning over their international chart however her streaming and album sales in South Korea are no comparison to the outstanding domestic sales of KPOP within the country. Here are Korean's top albums: - "The Most Beautiful Life," Pt 2 by the Bangtan Boys - "MATRIX" by B.A.P. - "Dear Santa - X Mas Special" by Girls Generation TTS Japan Why they don't prefer Adele? Japanese only track physical sold copies and as of now, Adele has only sold enough to make her the 7th highest album as of Dec. 7, 2015. Japanese also love KPOP but they're not as influential. It's also important to take note that digital downloads in the Japan music market outsell albums by 400% according to Fusion's research. Here are the following albums that have outsold Adele : - "For You" by Infinite - "Chandelier" by Black Number - "Sight of Blue" by Motohiro Hata Greece Why they don't prefer Adele? Blame it on the way they chart. They tracked how many '25' albums were shipped into the country instead of how many albums were sold total. Talk about bizarre. Even with Greece's adoration for American and British music, Adele only hit the No. 2 spot on Greek charts. They may track domestic and foreign music sales however their marks are harshly skewed. Sorry, Adele. The data didn't help you. Here are the albums that topped Adele: - "Ap' To Vorra Mehri to Noto" by Vasilis Karras - "M' Agapouses Ki Anthize" by Eleanora Zouganeli - "Nikos Vertis" by Nikos Vertis So really, other than MAYBE South Korea, Adele has won over everyone except for KPOP fans. There's always next time, Adele.
What Did You Think of Okja?
I finally had the time to watch Okja this weekend and I am so glad I did! If you didn't see any info about it you can read my card --> here! Basic summary: A food corporation is breeding a new kind of pig, they gave 26 of them to farmers around the world and made a competition of who could raise the biggest pig. Okja is one of the pigs, and has become part of the family in her Korean home. When she's taken away - her little girl will stop at nothing to get her back! !! !!! !! SPOILERS AHEAD!!! !! !!! !! First off, I was surprised by how fast it went. The 2 hours totally flew by! I also loved how they played with Korean, and since I was able to understand it it made it even funnier. Like when the leader of the ALF was like "40 long years ago we founded this great blahbalhabalahbal...." and Steve Yeun's character was just like "매날" hahahah I did like it, but I have one tiny issue with it... Lucy Mirando's character: She was totally manic. She was an absolute nut which made her so fun to watch. The problem is though, that it makes her character, her company, and what that corporation is doing, seem like an exaggeration. It really isn't :/ The horrible conditions, violent "forced mating" aka rape, and unnecessary pain is totally normal in the food industry. Now yes, there are local farmers that still treat their animals with dignity, and I don't think Okja was anti-meat. I think Okja is talking about the HUGE corporations that are doing pretty horrible things to our food. From using totally unsustainable ways of farming to putting animals in completely unnecessary conditions (like I said, I know there are farmers that raise animals in a sustainable way - not talking about those people!!) I hope Okja opened a lot of eyes, but I also hope people won't write the Mirando Corp off as an exaggeration because, as scary as it is, that is so SO close to reality. What did you think!?
Meet Kirby Jenner, Kendall Jenner's 'Secret' Twin Brother!
Just when you thought you've met everyone in the Kardashian-Jenner clan, it turns out that 20-year-old Kendall Jenner has had a 'secret twin brother' this entire time! (Or well, sort of. If there's such a thing as being related by spoof accounts and some epic Photoshop. But anyway. This is hilarious.) Meet Kirby Jenner, Kendall's wild and crazy mustached partner-in-crime!!! And just like the rest of his family, he's become something of an overnight social media star! His Instagram account (@kirbyjenner) has over 300,000 followers and features some of the twins' most memorable (and yet strangely forgotten) photoshoots. Like, did you know Kirby was in Kendall's most famous Instagram photo this entire time? He even brought his own hair extensions! And he and his twin sister seriously love goofing off with their little sis, Kylie. Behave, children, behave! The two share everything together - including their ad campaigns. No one gets between the twins and their Calvins. (Except maybe Subway sandwiches. Kirby was hungry!) Aren't their matching outfits downright adorable? They've even got the same cornrows! And when Kendall's rocking Fashion Week, you can bet he's front row center with the rest of the family. What a supportive brother. Have you heard of Kirby before? Is he your new favorite Kardashian-Jenner family member? Let me know in the comments below, and for more laughs, follow my Memes for Millennials collection.
YouTuber Films Suicide Victim, Doesn't Get Why His Jokes Arent Funny
[tw: mentions suicide] This is Logan Paul, YouTuber and brother of Jake Paul and equally influential YouTuber. He has over 15 million subscribers and makes videos about pranks, extreme sports, and basically living off of all the money he makes. Most of his fans are under the age of 17. He has been posting a video every single day for over a year and plenty have been controversial (one of his most successful videos is when he reacts to seeing color for the first time, but then he later admitted that he lied about being color blind) This week though, even his fans have said he has gone too far. He is currently in Japan and making videos about his trip, but he and his friends headed to Aokigahara, also known as Japan's suicide forest. It's the most popular place to tortured people to end their lives. It is known for its beauty so people do go there just to see the nature, but they went into the restricted section. They go on a visit to the forest intending to focus on the "haunted" aspect of it, he says in the video. After walking a short distance into the forest, the group come across a body. The group is filmed approaching the body, which is shown in several close-ups where only the face is blurred out. A member of the group is heard off camera saying he "doesn't feel good". Paul then asks him: "What, you never stand next to a dead guy?" He then laughs. He then took the time to pose with the man (who is revealed to have just died a few hours before due to the color of his body) in order to get the perfect thumbnail and then posted it on his channel. This is literally what the thumbnail image was: It got over 6 million views. Later in the video they joked that YouTube wouldn't put ads on a video with a dead guy so they might as well take sake shots too (YT has a new strict algorithm about what kind of content can make money and obviously suicide isnt one of them) After the video got a ton of criticism, he took the video down and issued this half ass apology: He later posted a video apology but come on. This is just disgusting. I am so sorry to the family of that victim and to anyone who has been affected by suicide. There is NO excuse for what he did. If it was a live stream and an accident I could understand if he was overwhelmed, forgot to turn the camera off, etc. But this was filmed, edited, and uploaded. He zoomed in and took from different angles. He posed for pictures with the body. He is trash.
