Man Builds A Robot Scarlett Johansson Because, Obviously.
Here's some breaking news in the realm of Earth's impending robot takeover. It seems that one Hong Kong robotics enthusiast has fulfilled his 'childhood dream' of designing a robot and his (probable) adult dream of being able to hit on Scarlett Johansson by creating Mark 1, his very first humanoid robot. Okay, so Ricky Ma, the man in question, will not flat-out admit that Mark 1 was designed to look like Scarlett Johansson, but he does say that he was 'inspired by a Hollywood actress' which is probably dodgy robotics dude speak for 'I made a Robo-ScarJo.' The entire project cost Ma roughly $51,000 to create the robot, who was made mostly of 3D-printed plastics, silicone, and various hardware. Mark 1 has the ability to talk, walk, and make natural facial expressions - including a smirk when you tell her she's pretty. Because, of course, he programmed her that way. Yo, Ricky, you might want to cool off on hitting on Artificial Life ScarJo. (We've all seen 'Her'. We know how that'll end.) But anyway... Ma intends to sell the prototype to a major investor and help develop more and more versions of Mark 1, a robot he sees as extremely useful as our technology capabilities only continue to evolve. Could you imagine a fleet of Robo-ScarJos built to help run our banks, medical offices, or even retail centers? How do you think Scarlett feels about this? Let me know what YOU think about Ricky Ma and his Robot Johansson below. And for more strange tech news, follow my Weird Science collection!

(That could be you. If you get the job, that is.) According to the official job posting, in order to be an aforementioned goat-cuddling herdsman, these are the requirements the company expects from applicants: Able to lift 50 pounds Committed to local food and agriculture Works well independently and on a team Willing to take initiative Excited to learn Goat lover! Spanish speaking a plus+ Am I the only one that's a little confused as to why something like Spanish-speaking is required to hang out with goats? Anyway, if you know someone in the Virginia area that is willing to get their snuggle on with a billy goat, feel free to send them to the official volunteer website, where they'll be able to sign up for a four-hour cuddle shift. 8 Steps To Protect Your Information On Social Media
Social media can be a fun way to interact with friends and family. However, it can also be a source of identity theft and other problems. Someone could use your social media to ruin your professional reputation. They may also be able to sell your information to other people. A few best practices can help keep you safe on social media. Limit Your Accounts There are many social media platforms and you may have numerous accounts. However, you should be careful about how many you keep open. Consider deleting ones you don’t use and only keeping a couple. This will help you to better manage the information you share. Additionally, if you have an old account, someone else may be able to take it over and impersonate you. Only Accept Friends You Know Avoid accepting friends that you don’t actually know. It may seem innocent to connect with someone new who reaches out to you online. However, this is a common strategy of identity thieves. They create fake accounts, send out thousands of friend requests and see what information they can scrape from profiles. You may be surprised how much someone can learn about you. Lock Down Your Security Settings Most social media networks have security settings that let you manage who can see what information. Avoid public profiles and keep your information locked down so that only your close friends and family members can see your more private information. Even something as simple as your birthday can help identity thieves get access to your bank accounts. Be Cautious About What You Post Be mindful of what you post. You likely have less control over your social media posts that you think. If you post an inappropriate picture or controversial opinion, you may find that it comes back to bite you in the future. Managing an online reputation is important for people and businesses. Much of the time it is best to keep your social media activity limited to things you’d be happy for your grandmother to see. Minimize Your Personal Details There is no need to build profiles full of personal data. If you are connecting with people who know you, they don’t need to check your profile to see which year you were born. Even explicitly highlighting your mother on your profile could be an issue. How many security questions ask for your mother’s maiden name? These personal details are more dangerous than most people realize. Don’t Log Into Websites With Your Accounts When you log into a website with your social media accounts, you may be sharing information with those sites. How these systems work varies but you may be opening yourself up to identity theft. While some websites are likely safe, it is best not to use this unless you need to. Furthermore, if someone got access to your social media account, he or she would then be able to log into other accounts using it. Skip the Clickbait If you see a vaguely titled but tantalizing article on social media, be cautious. Many of these articles are specifically designed to make you click on them. Some may be a trick to attack you with viruses such as ransomware. An increasingly common strategy for clickbait is to share articles that make you outraged. Be mindful of the website links you clock on social media. Don’t Geolocate Have you ever posted a photo on your social media and it included the location where you were? This metadata may seem harmless. However, it can be a powerful tool for an identity thief. It isn’t really adding any benefit for your friends and is sharing information about your whereabouts. Consider, for example, if you are away from home on vacation. Your social feed would be a great tool for a burglar. Being careful about what you share can help keep you safe. Keep these best practices in mind online.

[ROLL CALL] What's Your Wackiest Retail Story?
So it's the most craziest retail weekend of the year here in the States, and chances are that you or someone close to you has gone to the mall within the past 48 hours. Maybe you're one of the many that bank on some awesome Black Friday deals, maybe you just got dragged unwillingly - or even worse, maybe you went to the mall to WORK because you WORK RETAIL and this weekend, you are a SLAVE. Needless to say, I'm realizing some of you might need a place to vent out your frustrations, and don't worry, the Funny Community is here for you - and probably have some stories of our own! Today's big question - What are some of your wackiest stories about working retail? I'll start first: Now, this isn't the only weird story I have, but probably the quickest and funniest one I can remember while still keeping things G-rated. I used to work at Starbucks as a barista, and one of the things we do at work is called a 'spin'. Basically, you have to go around the lobby of the cafe and wipe down all the tables, make sure the trash cans aren't overflowing and the bathrooms are stocked, etc. One time, when I was doing a 'spin', a stereotypical soccer mom type with her 'venti three-shot no-whip no-foam extra hot white chocolate mocha' saw that I had walked right past her, and I guess she needed something and wanted some assistance. What you do when you want assistance: Go up to an employee at the front counter, the hand-off area, or maybe even someone doing a 'spin' and say "Excuse me, can you help me for a second?" What you don't do when you want assistance: Whistle at the employee like a dog. Yes, I got whistled at the same way someone would whistle at their Australian Shepherd at your local dog park. Not one of those 'yoohoo' whistles, but the one that requires you to put your thumb and your index finger into your mouth so you can let out a swift and loud WHIIIIIIIIIISTLE. My eyebrows raised in a way that I don't ever recall them raising before, and I remember thinking something along the lines of "Wow, uh.. that just happened." The best part about this whole scenario is this woman's son ended up working at our same Starbucks location only a few months later, and I spent the rest of our job together wondering if he knows his mom is the kind of person who dog-whistles at retail employees. So now it's your turn! Comment below with YOUR weirdest/funniest/most terrifying experience working retail. (Extra points if the manager backed you up.)
