US A Net Exporter of Oil for the First Time
According to politifact, President Obama's statement that the domestic crude oil production surpassed crude oil imports in October 2013 for the first time since 1995. The EIA estimates that oil production will increase to an average of 8.5 million barrels per day in 2014. In October, the United States produced an average of 7.8 million barrels of oil per day and imported 7.5 million barrels of oil per day. Energy independence is meaningless though, so I don't get the big deal.
