A group of travelers stepped off a bus in front of Ubud market in Bali at around 11 a.m., following a flag-waving elderly man.
The writing on the bus was in Chinese characters and the tourists looked Asian.
If they were indeed from China, it would hardly be any surprise, because, despite the legion of Caucasian faces roaming Bali, Chinese tourists now rank second in terms of numbers behind Australia.
According to data from Indonesia’s Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the amount of people visiting the island from China has doubled over the past five years – overtaking Japan.
