안녕하세요! 모찌룬 입니다!
Okay, I'm gonna try to keep this short and sweet. Like I have said in one of my previous cards, this is the first time I'm doing these texting stories. And, although simple, I do find them difficult to push the story forward. But since this is one of the few that does revolve around their text messages, I will do my best to keep up with them. I am sorry if my stories are a little wordy. Now, on to the story!!
BTS FanFic Project:
I sat there, staring at my phone as I debate whether this was going to be a bad idea or not. I looked at our chatroom and saw that he read my messages. Biting my lip, I stood up from my seat and quickly walked out of my classroom. I hastily walked towards the furthest staircase and walked down towards the staircase landing. Taking a deep breath, I tapped on the call button and patiently waited.
“Hello?” answered the voice from the other line.
My breath hitched for a moment and I began to dry cough.
“Woah! Hello?! Are you okay?” He spoke up again, his voice laced with concern. After a minute of coughing, I managed to calm my breathing and spoke back into my phone.
“Sorry,” I told him. “I was a bit surprised.”
“Surprised about what?” I heard him say as I leaned my back against the wall.
“Two reasons,” I replied. “One, I was not counting on you to answer your phone. And two, I was expecting a normal sounding voice. Maybe somewhere a bit on the higher side. I did not expect your voice to be deep.”
Although it was a bit soft, probably from moving the phone away and covering his mouth with his free hand, I could hear him laughing on the other line. After a moment, I could hear the phone shuffle for a bit.
“What made you think I would have a higher pitch voice?” He finally asked me.
“Honestly, it was your messages. I kept reading them with that kind of tone in my head,” I told him.
“If that is the case,” he answered. “I thought you would be a boy or someone who would have a raspier voice.”
“Why would you think I would be a boy?” I moved my free arm across my chest and placed my hand on my arm.
“Someone she wanted to induce jealousy from. Especially, when she would occasionally ask for photos of her and the guy whose number she gave to.”
“That is a logical explanation. I can understand from that point-of-view,” I told him. “What about my tone of voice? What made you think it would be raspy?”
There was a slight pause from the other line. For a moment, I thought the line was cut off until I looked at my phone screen to see that the call was still on-going. I brought the phone back up to my ear and waited.
“First,” he began. “You mentioned about being more of a listener and not having much to say.”
“That is true,” I acknowledged.
“So, I just thought you wouldn’t have much time to... uh…,” he paused for a moment. “Train your vocal cords from the lack of needing to speak.”
“Is that so?”
“Yes,” he curtly replied. “But your voice is actually much smoother. Very calming and soothing, in my opinion.”
“Well,” I began, feeling a bit embarrassed from what I heard. “I did not expect that outcome. I guess we both assumed something about each other.”
“Yeah, you’re right,” he said as he let out a soft chuckle. “A lesson to be learned.”
“Indeed, it is.” Just as I said that the school bell rang. I silently cursed in my head when I realize I didn’t get to where I was going with this call.
“And there is the school bell,” he spoke up. “Before we hang up. What was the whole purpose of this call? I didn’t expect it from you.”
“I actually wanted to use this call to help you practice what you wanted to say to her,” I responded. “It is so that you have a clear idea about what you wanted to ask and so that you won’t be so nervous talking to her.”
Another quick moment of silence passed before he spoke up again.
“Thank you,” he told me.
“What for?” I asked. “From what I see, we completely derailed from the initial intention of this call.”
“I think the end results was still satisfactory,” he answered. “I’m not as nervous as I was earlier. And talking to you, listening to you speak was a big help. Regardless of what the topic was about.”
I quickly looked around to see if anyone else was nearby and was relieved to see that the stairway was still empty. I could feel my cheeks burn up from how embarrassed I was from hearing that.
“I’m not used to receiving compliments like that,” I told him honestly.
“Well,” he paused for a moment. “You should get used to it for when someone comes around and remind you how much help you are to them.”
“Uh… thank you.” I also paused in my sentence. “Well, we should get going before we get in trouble for being late to class.”
“Until next time,” he told me.
“… Good luck,” I responded and hung up the phone.
