It has been really inspiring to see friends and colleagues across the watch world find interesting and creative ways to support their communities and the global fight against COVID-19 over the last few weeks. Today, we've got another awesome effort, coming from the good folks at Ressence and Sotheby's. The avant-garde watchmaker and storied auction house are teaming up for "Time To Draw," a competition that asks watch Replica swiss watches lovers to design their ideal Ressence watch, with the winner being made as a piece unique that Sotheby's will auction this summer to raise money for COVID-19 research. Unique, community-designed watch being sold for a good cause? You know I'm into it.
Entering "Time To Draw" is pretty simple. First, you'll want to download the high-res outline drawings of the Ressence Type 1 Slim right here. From there, you can use crayons, colored pencils, Photoshop, or whatever your preferred pigmentation method might be to color each component and graphic (remembering that the hands and numerals can be colored with Super-LumiNova). To quote from Ressence's instructions, "nothing is off-limits." Once you're happy with the dial of the watch, you can add your name as an engraving to the caseback too. Ressence says that you should feel free to go as crazy as you'd like and that any adjustments that need to be made for manufacturing can be handled later. You have two weeks to submit your designs, and Ressence founder Beno?t Mintiens and his team will ultimately be the ones choosing a winner.
What makes this even more special, though, is that the winning design will be put into production as a unique piece, with the creator's name on the back and all. That watch will then be part of Sotheby's "Important Watches" auction in Hong Kong on July 11. Proceeds from the sale will go to support the COVID-19 Research Programme from KU Leuven and UZ Leuven universities. The pair of Belgian universities are close to Ressence's HQ in Antwerp, in case you were wondering why this program was chosen.
"As a start-up, we feel very much connected with our community. We are a part of a larger eco-system," says Mintiens. "When on a daily basis you have contact with the people that wear your products, you can’t disconnect from their reality. Even if these are extremely challenging times company wise, we have received a lot from our community, now it’s time to give. We chose to support a local initiative."Cartier replica
You should submit your finished design to firstname.lastname@example.org before 2:00 PM GMT on May 12 (and there are no restrictions on the number of entries per person, FYI). Be sure to include your contact info and what you'd like engraved on the back. Alternatively, you can share your design on Instagram, using the hashtag #WatchesAgainstCovid19 and tagging @ressence_watches and @sothebyswatches on the post.
We can't wait to see what the winning watch looks like!
